Consultant – Employee Transfer Coordinator

 Primary Responsibility:

This position reports to the Manager – Production Support and Process Integration. The primary responsibility is to serve as the payroll project lead and subject matter expert on the Large Strategic Functional Employee Transfer team. This position must maintain an expert understanding of overall employee payroll data to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all aspects of the strategic employee transfers. This position will interact on a regular basis with the Sr Consultant – Employee Strategic Transfer Project Manager and internal company Finance, HR and IT contacts.

Additionally, this position will actively participate as the primary support/lead for payroll and time related testing requirements, including validation of employee data and payroll related reference tables. This position will lead, support and manage all phases of the large group strategic transfers. Works very closely with the various Payroll Operations Functional teams.

Also responsible for articulating functional and translating business requirements impacting the employee transfer to the IT development and testing teams. This position will identify and recommend changes, draft, review and approve test plans, lead User Acceptance Testing activities and sign off on all change requirements for production migration.

This position will support and rotate assignments within the Overall Payroll Production and Process Integration team.

Specific Responsibilities:

Scope of responsibilities include but is not limited to the following:

  • Manage and complete the employee transition of over 3,000 employees annually across Wireless, Wireline and Corporate.
  • Establishes and documents detailed work plans to identify tasks that must be completed to ensure strategic transfers are successful
  • Communicates timelines of transfers and activities to Payroll Operations Functional teams of transfers and impacted employees
  • Validate/Reconcile payroll data before and after each transfer and assist payroll functional teams with any post transfer payroll issues and correct prior to the employees pay date.
  • Represents payroll as the subject matter expert on the weekly Strategic Transfer team conference calls with over 100 participants from various groups: Human Resource, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Benefits, Accounting, Tax, Legal, AP, Labor Relations, IT, Security, Compliance, Compensation, FP&A, and Employee Service Center.
  • Updates the payroll section for the employee FAQ documents for each unique strategic and provide to Sr. Consultant – Project Manager Strategic transfers to assist the employees during their transition.
  • Works with IT through the development, testing and implementation of large strategic transfers
  • Responsible for system testing and validation as needed for scheduled strategic transfers
  • Responsible for providing payroll signoff and approval to move system changes to production
  • Receives broad guidance & is accountable for project results. Work is accomplished without considerable direction.
  • Communicates and alerts the Manager – Production Support/Process Integration to any issues found
  • Works with the Sr. Analyst Payroll Content and multiple Sr. Analyst supporting the various Payroll Operations functional team to identify Change Management items.


Skills Required

  • Strong experience with Payroll, Time and Labor applications. PeopleSoft Payroll and HRIS, PeopleSoft Time and Labor, and Workbrain.
  • Strong experience/understanding of organizational structure related with company transfers, mergers, and or acquisitions.
  • Strong analytical background with the ability to develop metrics to support monitoring of data and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work with diverse and decentralized teams
  • Understanding of required compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial requirements governing functional tasks and activities.
  • Proven background utilizing relevant ERP and support systems
  • Strong working experience with PeopleSoft HRMSP
  • Proven background in understanding PeopleSoft reference tables
  • Finance Operations such as Payroll experience desirable.
  • Knowledgeable on Core HR and Payroll data elements
  • Knowledgeable in business processes identified to support
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proven strong project management skills
  • Strong working knowledge MS Office
  • Working knowledge of report query and design, SQL writing
  • Receives broad guidance & is accountable for project results.
  • Cooperatively interact with peers in HR, Benefits, Finance, Labor, IT and Payroll Operations to identify requirements as needed.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in HRMS/Payroll Processing/Timekeeping system applications
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree required, CPP or FPC, desirable.
  • 1-3 years of management experience preferred
