Consultant – Process Integrator – Payroll and Finance

Primary Responsibility:

This position reports to the Manager – Production Support and Process Integration. This primary responsibility is to support/lead key strategic projects and/or new systems development as it relates to Payroll or the Time and Labor applications from inception to completion once approved. This includes establishing and monitoring the individual project master plans and coordination of resources across various groups (people or systems, internal or external). This position’ overall responsibilities include providing the overall project management, ensuring end to end processes are covered and reviewed with Payroll Operations Functional team, tests and validates results, and communicates and assist with training to the appropriate impacted groups. They are held responsible to work with the appropriate Payroll Operations Functional or other organizations team leads to ensure all processes have been accounted for and test results are accurate base on the change identified prior to production implementation.

Responsible for articulating functional and translating business requirements to IT development and testing teams. This position will identify and recommend design changes, draft, and review and approve test plans, lead User Acceptance Testing activities and provide final sign off of all change requirements for production migration. This position is responsible for working in conjunction with IT to write and develop code for enhancements and upgrades.

Additionally, this position is the subject matter expert in the integration of Finance related processes in to the payroll system. They will interact accordingly with the cross functional organizations to identify impact of change of the project to the overall payroll production processing. This position must also maintain a working knowledge of the overall payroll process (both system and functional) and data to ensure accuracy and impact of the change requested.

This position will support and rotate assignments within the Overall Payroll Production and Support team.

Specific Responsibilities:

Scope of responsibilities include but is not limited to the following:

  • Documents requirements based on scope set as it relates to Global Payroll, Time Reporting systems and end to end or downstream processes or systems.
  • Subject Matter expert to provide support for Finance related processes, helps integrate business policies/processes within payroll process
  • Works with the various General Ledger teams
  • Establishes and documents detailed work plans to identify tasks that must be completed to ensure implementations are successful
  • Prioritize tasks and timelines to ensure commitments are met amongst the team
  • Work with IT through the development, testing and implementation processes
  • Project Management of on-going system enhancements, i.e. change controls to either the Payroll system or multiple time and labor systems
  • Responsible for system testing and validation as needed for scheduled upgrades, new releases, etc.
  • Responsible for providing payroll signoff and approval to move system changes to production
  • Responsible for development of training and process documentation
  • Responsible for understanding and applying the strategic initiatives set by Payroll, HR, IT, Legal and Finance where applicable
  • Works with external vendors such as benefit vendors Fidelity or Xerox and ADP related to defining requirements, testing and implementation
  • Receives broad guidance & is accountable for project results. Work is accomplished without considerable direction.
  • Communicates and alerts the Manager – Production Support/Process Integration to any issues found
  • Works with Production Support team related to technical/system issues and overall understanding of the production process.
  • Works with the Sr. Analyst Payroll Content to identify Change Management items and or processing


Skills Required

  • Strong working experience with PeopleSoft HRMS, Payroll Systems and Time and Labor Systems
  • Proven background utilizing relevant ERP and support systems
  • Finance Operations such as Payroll experience desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge on Core HR and Payroll data elements
  • Strong working knowledge of General Ledger process and integration with payroll
  • Proven strong project management skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to manage diverse and decentralized teams
  • Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Project and MS Office
  • Strong working knowledge of report query and design, SQL writing
  • Receives broad guidance & is accountable for project results.
  • Exercise considerable judgment in developing methods, techniques & evaluation criteria for obtaining
  • Ability to identify and communicate process improvements as identified in the normal performance of daily functional activities.
  • Cooperatively interact with peers in HR, Benefits, Benefit vendors, Finance, Legal, Labor, Security and IT to identify requirements as needed.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in HRMS/Payroll Processing/Timekeeping system applications
  • Education – Bachelor’s degree required, CPP or FPC, desirable.
  • 1-3 years of management experience preferred
