The Supply Chain Planning Manager will be a team lead responsible for day to day operational results, strategic direction, and overall analytics for the Verizon forward and reverse supply chains. Specific functions include defining, developing and directing daily supply planning, purchasing, and inventory optimization needs that supports all Verizon FiOS related material.  The core responsibility is to ensure that the Regions maintain a 95% service level for the entire product lineup, while minimizing the working capital risk to the business.  The position will be responsible for defining and executing to a set of supply chain operational metrics geared towards inventory optimization, cost reduction, improving revenue opportunities and overall customer experience. 

 

The Supply Chain Planning Manager will also be responsible for creating and driving strategies for identifying, valuating and prioritizing supply chain solution innovations and improvements, as well as ensuring their timely execution.  The successful candidate will effectively link supply chain daily operations with forward strategy, processes and analytics.

This role will require extensive partnering with various internal and external teams to develop and implement a robust S&OP process.  The manager will lead supply chain-optimization related projects involving cross functional teams at an aggressive pace on an enterprise-wide scale. He or she will also have significant leadership experience, demonstrated successes driving cross-functional process improvement, enabling tangible benefit to the business.  The candidate will be the catalyst for driving continuous improvement while leading the day to day operations.  


This is a high impact, highly visible, multi-business/multi-region position in the Supply Chain organization.  The Supply Chain Planning Manager will be part of a leading-edge team responsible for initiating and executing strategic efforts across Verizon’s Supply Chain organization.
 

Day to Day Operations

 

Daily Supply Planning and CFPR Initiatives

  • Maintain a 95% service level in all areas while minimizing the working capital risk
  • Analysis and Planning: Drive deep analytics to optimize inventory, supply planning and replenishment practices.
  • Evaluate policies and business rules to maximize business value. Report performance to all levels of management
  • Establish vision and direction CPFR for (Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment) & VCI (Vendor Co-located Inventory) processes with all accessory vendors (Mirror the device best practices)

 

Supplier Management

  • Define, implement, and sponsor a full suite of collaboration procedures between suppliers and VZW teams with the goal of providing world class performance
  • Hold suppliers accountable for performance and help make their operations world class, utilizing metrics reporting against established targets and analyzing their processes for opportunities as we work upstream into their supply chain 
  •  
  • Establish guidelines with suppliers to successfully plan the launch and transition of new SKUs

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Closely partner with cross functional teams ensure collaboration in regards to road map, supply planning, and replenishment processes
  • Develop, author, and lead accessory S&OP processes and adoption
  • Create and maintain processes for the internal demand and supply integration  / alignment

 

Ensure inventory availability in all channels

  • Completely understand market conditions, including inventory, sell-thru, and upcoming promotion plans 
  • Formulate best practices in supply chain and enterprise channel management to manage the channels needs  / expectations and ensure product availability
  • Collaborate with channel owners to ensure committed supply is consumed in a timely manner (Drive accountability)

 

Minimize obsolescence and working capital exposure

  • Minimize obsolescence by identifying slow moving inventory and proactively working with cross functional teams  to create plans to stimulate sales
  • Integrate the forward and reverse supply chains

 

Manage, Train, and Lead Team

  • Responsible for the functioning of organizational structure, staff engagement and morale. Development of direct reports and overall team growth - mentor, coach and motivate.  Provide timely feedback, guidance and training to help attain departmental goals.
  • Acquire and develop top talent to strengthen the Supply Chain Department
  • Cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards
     

 

Strategic Assessment and Optimization

 

  • Completes regular strategic assessment of Verizon’s end-to-end supply chain operational flow and processes, identifying opportunities, disconnects and gaps
  • Works with all supply chain functional leads and counterparts to set objects for supply chain technology improvements in alignment with organizational and business unit strategies and objectives
  • Responsible for consistently communicating and entrenching the benefits, policies, standards, procedures and framework for a comprehensive and alignment supply chain information architecture
  • Works collaboratively with key stakeholders across the organization to determine business process owner and/or subject area ownership, implements data definitions, establishes organizational accountability, establishes policies, standards and procedures with respect to all aspects of supply chain information management and establishes quality control metrics and management reporting.

 

 

Process Improvement

 

  • Document and analyze the supply chain processes and flows through the various nodes
  • Act as change agent to foster a high quality culture throughout the organization and drive measurable business process improvements

 

  • Lead multiple cross-functional teams charged with implementing strategic enterprise–wide efficiency-driving programs
  • Gain organizational stakeholder support (both Sr. level and throughout the operational orgs) using a data driven business case for change actions, including a clearly articulated problem statement, sound analytics supporting the change position, and a project plan to improve the process
  • Drive comprehensive change management, ensuring successful implementation, adoption and application of new capabilities

 

 

Advanced Analytical Modeling, Analysis and Impact

 

  • Highly technical position that requires balancing analytics with sufficient business acumen to translate complex business challenges into tractable mathematical models
  • Apply advanced analytic techniques such as optimization, simulation, data mining and statistics to design, implement, validate and refine mathematical models and algorithms to understand and optimize supply chain
  • Provide end-to-end cohesion to ensure the successful delivery of analytic results: Work with cross-functional teams including marketing, networking, and others to identify efficient and practical analytic goals and tactics. Ensure that necessary data is captured, metrics are well-defined from both business and technical perspectives, and timelines are coordinated with analytic needs
 

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • Depth of expertise in end-to-end supply chains, established effectiveness with managing inventory improvement initiatives with a focus in Supply Planning, Inventory Optimization, CPFR processes, and S&OP processes
  • Highly developed leadership skills and the proven ability to engage, influence, and develop collaborative partnerships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to understand and think strategically and implement long term plans in parallel to day to day supply management, can handle both long term and short term goals simultaneously
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines, manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented work environment
  • Proven track record with vendor relationship management, negotiation skills, implementation supplier scorecards
  • Strong problem solver with ability to resolve conflicts, assertive, good in both written and oral communications with ability to create and deliver executive presentations
  • Drive continuous improvement; make recommendations for and lead change initiatives around policies, procedures and processes that will improve Supply Chain effectiveness
