Responsibilities

Verizon is at an exciting juncture in transforming its business from providing traditional telecom and video services in a rigid telecom environment to providing existing services more efficiently and rapidly create new innovative services on a flexible services architecture. A good part of the Verizon business is Broadband Wireline access on the Flagship FiOS network and wireless network access on the flagship LTE network. If you have extensive IP experience, and subscriber management experience you will be able to leverage your expertise but also address new challenges and applications that are not addressed in traditional Broadband services and the way they are enabled. This job is for the initiated architect who has IP subscriber management expertise, Policy management, and IP network architecture expertise, and who has experience in or eager to expand into cloud-based technologies and services. The candidate architect is expected to lead the development of the next generation Broadband Network Architecture and Services.

 

In order to accomplish tis task, Verizon is looking for an innovative “out-of-the box” Architect for Broadband network and services architecture, with deep technical expertise, strong awareness of technology and market trends in the areas of consumer and small/Medium Business services, and who is able to collaborate with team members with complementary expertise and collaborate across organizations, and with partner vendors.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will primarily focus on defining and evolving the Broadband network architecture.
  • Candidate will primarily focus on defining and evolving the Broadband services architecture.
  • Candidate will be strongly encouraged to identify new services opportunities and initiatives to provide services as products on Verizon Broadband networks.
  • Candidate will be charged with developing proof-of-concept prototypes as necessary and validate concept and scale etc., working with others.
  • Candidate will be charged with cooperating with partner solutions vendors, and other team members to develop solutions.
  • Candidate will be expected to build the Broadband architecture environment.
  • Candidate would engage in technical discussions with customers and in market assessment to support strategy and roadmap development.

Qualifications

 

Required Technical Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering at minimum, with preference for a graduate degree.
  • 7+ year experience in Large-scale tier1-carrier Broadband IP subscriber management and services (VoIP, IPTV, data) with strong emphasis on wireless and mobile access including:
    • IPv4 and IPv6
    • QoS
    • Policy management and Charging 3GPP, and AAA
    • 3GPP LTE access architecture
    • WiFi and carrier WiFi
    • Protocols: DHCP, DNS, IGMP, IPv6 SLAAC, PCP, GTP
    • APNs
    • Security
    • Lawful Intercept
    • Home Networking
  • 5+ years of solid experience in and/or understanding of IP and Ethernet networking including:
    • Ethernet knowledge at minimum in terms of VLANs, VLAN stacking, OAM, IP LANs
    • BGP/MPLS IPVPN
    • Policy-based Forwarding
  • Strong understanding of and/or working experience in UPnP and DLNA.
  • Solid understanding of SDN
  • Good Understanding of Analytics is a plus.
