This position is responsible for the delivery of Access Cost accounting services. It involves managing key areas of the Access Cost accounting function for the business within the Accounting organization, which includes domestic and international activity for multiple service types. This position reports to an Accounting Vice President.

‐ Responsible for the development, planning and execution of Accounting strategy and policy as it relates to the assigned area of responsibility.

‐ Leads the development of strategies, methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people.

‐ Negotiates with third parties vendors/suppliers (if any) on service level agreements and other financially important matters to ensure strategic alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

- Negotiates the type of services, their timing and the definition/calculation of performance measures with service providers to ensure alignment with overall corporate objectives.

‐ Analyzes and articulates business unit financial results.

‐ Maintains substantive and material interaction with functional areas of the company.

‐ Acts as a key liaison between the company, government, and external auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.

‐ Responsible for ensuring adequate internal controls are in place and routinely tested.

‐ Provides managerial accountability for a team of subordinates and provides direction and guidance to accomplish objectives.

‐ Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

‐ Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters.

‐ Defines overall staffing levels, creates and monitors budgets and has overall P& L responsibilities.

‐ Works on highly complex special financial and accounting projects in support of overall organizational strategy.

Qualifications

Required:

- Professional certification (e.g. CPA).

‐ Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent work experience.

‐ 9+ years of directly related experience with a strong management background working with major projects and initiatives.

‐ Proven management skills.

‐ Expert knowledge and technical acumen for the analysis of business results.

‐ Excellent communications and presentation skills; comfortable with presenting to executives.

‐ Expert knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and basic knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.

‐ Experienced in the design of inquiries and reports.

‐ Extensive experience with the design and implementation of accounting systems and applications.

‐ Broad‐based knowledge of Verizon vendor management policies and procedures.

‐ In‐depth knowledge of Verizon automated accounting systems and applications.

‐ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel

‐ Strong written and oral communications skills.

Preferred:

‐ Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent
