Responsibilities

The User Experience-Interaction Design Manager is responsible for delivering an intuitive, leading edge end-user experience for Verizon’s services in the Connected Home and Business Communications segments.  The objective is to design products that are simple to use in providing an integrated solution experience for the user, with consideration for device types, content, and aesthetics. 

This position carries two primary roles:

Define the overarching User Experience strategy and Verizon UE Signature across the Connected Home and Business Communications portfolios, and ensure its application by providing oversight and guidance to other teams within the organization.

Product specific deliverables in support of the end-to-end User Experience for Mobile UC&C applications and devices provided with Verizon communication products and services.

In this role, the Manager of User Experience-Interaction Design will work with multiple product managers, technical development teams, and outside partners on the development and delivery of systems, products, and services.  This will be a highly intensive role requiring collaboration, strong communication and organization skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product management & development to understand business strategy and high-level product requirements
  • Create environment that fosters innovation and collaboration with marketing and product management to create product experience roadmaps and other deliverables
  • Lead User Experience-Interaction design strategy definition, define the user model, and develop a signature Verizon UX to apply across Mobile applications/products
  • Coordinate activities across the internal development organization and external partners as needed to deliver the end-to-end customer experience
  • Apply UX strategy and implementations for mobile product applications and devices to specific product solutions
  • Assess current Partner’s mobile product UX and recommend modifications for specific Verizon application of those products
  • Conduct user groups and studies around UX design, including validation of product designs
  • Define processes to identify and correct gaps in the user experience based upon direct and indirect customer feedback
  • Ensure delivery of the customer experience always maintains the highest levels of functional quality and customer ease-of-use
  • Work with Product Managers during the launch process to develop supporting collateral, demo capabilities, sales team tools and other key supporting user documents/interfaces that will drive uptake and usage
  • Support sales team and customer meetings as required
  • Produce detailed weekly reports showing all progress, milestones, issues and points of resolution

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree and minimum 3 years experience in User Experience Design (e.g. interaction design, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Industrial Design, CS, or a related field
  • MA/MS degree and minimum 5 years experience in User Experience Design preferred (e.g. interaction design, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Industrial Design, CS, or a related field preferred
  • Proven capability and experience in a customer-driven User Experience strategy development, UX Design and Implementation, for applications and devices
  • Business or Consumer market product experience
  • Understanding of fixed and mobile communication devices in the market, with view of technology trends for user shifts
  • Proven skills working within complex, matrixed organizations, leading through influence and direct authority across existing teams and larger organizations
  • Strong organizational and personnel diplomacy skills, including proven track record growing and building innovative products that drive growth
  • Proven ability to work in and create an environment that fosters learning, teaching, growth, risk-taking and innovation
  • Solid understanding of technology and development processes
  • Prior experience using SCRUM or agile development processes a plus
  • Understanding of Consumer and Business Communications products a plus
  • Understanding of Cloud technology
