Responsibilities

Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems. 

Analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. 

Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods & techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Proactively look for areas to improve LTE, 3G1X and EVDO network performance and to meet network KPIs. Monitor and trend network statistics and capacity growth.
  • Identify and resolve data performance issues – e.g. outage, latency, throughput, failed connection attempts, and drop connections.
  • Support data network changes from HQ data initiatives, vendor feature implementation and upgrades.
  • Support field data performance test and maintenance window monitoring and field testing.
  • Improve performance and resolve failed events measured by VZW Baseline, RootMetrics and Nielsen test.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for LTE, 3G1X and EVDO data issues in the region.
  • Support system performance engineer in resolving customer data trouble tickets.
  • Provide training to local teams in feature enhancement, identification and resolution of data performance issues.
  • Support the development and enhancement of the data network monitoring and reporting tools (e.g. Irisview, eHealth).
  • Provide data performance reports for the region and for special events.
  • Work with various departments (Area and HQ Network, Network Operations, Network Engineering, Maintenance Engineering) and vendors to implement changes and trouble shoot data issues.
  • Provide support to RF design and Network Engineering for network expansion & data capacity growth. 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related degree. 4 plus years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications’ industry.
  • CCNA/CCNP a plus.
  • Have a clear understanding of CDMA networks and wireless data technologies; LTE, VOLTE, 1XRTT and EV-DO, including air link protocols and data session Call flows.
  • Experience in wireless switching environment (Nortel, Ericsson, Lucent, Cisco, Juniper). Understanding of core network including but not limited to PDSN, CSR router, WDN router, Aggregate Router, AAA, HSS, MME, SGW, PGW, IMS, Juniper and Cisco routers.
  • Ability to differentiate and diagnose RAN and CORE related problems; understanding of Systems Engineering aspects related to RAN & proficiency in Core level call flow analysis. IMS understanding is a plus.
  • Knowledge of network diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, network analyzer, sniffer, and basic diagnostic commands ping/traceroute, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSI, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, MIP and VLAN, etc.
  • Must have strong work ethic, integrity and work extremely well in a team environment.
  • Must possess a proactive work style with the ability to set priorities, work with minimum supervision and with a diverse group of professionals.
    Must be detail oriented and able to follow up through to completion on all assignments/projects/deadlines.
  • Must have the initiative to independently identify issues, trouble-shoot, come up with timely, creative solutions, and own issues through resolution
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management
  • Work flexible hours and support night or weekend work as needed. Overnight travel may be required.
  • A Driver’s license is required.
