Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Sr. Consultant, Change Management is responsible for building and delivering Change Execution services across Verizon’s diverse businesses.  The scope of the Sr. Consultant is focused across four areas:

Strategy- Building change architectures and sharing best practices to grow and develop the Change Execution practice, strategy, and service offerings. 

Organization Change Capability- Providing consulting services and performance solutions designed to build a Verizon culture which is optimally receptive to change. 

Change Enablement- Enabling the execution of Verizon’s strategic and targeted change initiatives by providing high quality Change Execution products and consulting to sponsors and to project teams.  The incumbent will work closely with project teams to surface and facilitate mitigation of change execution risks, ensure that human aspects of the change are considered to foster commitment, minimize resistance, align culture, and engage the project teams in discussion and decision-making to create a simple, collective vision of the desired end state.

Branding / Messaging- Creating a positive perception of organizational change capabilities by creating messaging and techniques to respond to resistance, build change willingness, and emphasize benefits while debunking current myths.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy

  • Develop the change architecture, tools and framework that support the creation of Verizon’s change execution methodology and strategy
  • Provide sponsorship consulting / coaching to understand sponsor's organization and change management issues, explain the factors involved and shape organizational solutions to deliver value to the sponsor

Organizational Capability Building

  • Develop curriculum and training to enhance the adoption of change execution principles
  • Design and deliver customized workshops / education sessions
  • Provide change execution skill / knowledge transfer across project teams
  • Design, facilitate, and monitor enrollment process to build commitment across impacted areas
  • Report on business outcomes resulting from performance solutions and targeted support client engagements

Change Enablement

  • Develop and implement change management strategy and plan to support change initiatives
  • Regularly evaluate and recommend solutions for change risks
  • Drive stakeholder involvement, leadership engagement, change analytics, strategic change messaging, capability development, organizational alignment, business readiness, deployment, and adoption measurement
  • Design consequence management plan to incent / reward new behaviors and discourage old behaviors
  • Develop ways to drive cultural change; shift work, behaviors and mindset to support realization goals

Branding and Messaging

  • Build positive perception of organizational change capabilities; debunk current myths
  • Publicize and communicate Change Execution products and services through appropriate media
  • Plan, craft, and distribute change-related communications across organization to increase commitment to new culture, often partnering with Corporate Communications lead
  • Design specific interventions / solutions intended to increase employee commitment

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • 8-10 years of experience in facilitating large scale organizational change initiatives
  • 8-10 years of experience in training, facilitation, and communications
  • Exceptional platform skills, and ability to engage audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Highly skilled in assessing clients’ needs, effectively diagnosing key issues, and quickly creating high-quality performance solutions and/or targeted support interventions
  • Bachelor Degree in Behavioral Science or related experience

Desired Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Lean Six Sigma familiarity, green / black belt a plus
  • Experience measuring ROI of training and/or change execution strongly desired

  • Experience working across company boundaries; functions well in ambiguous and complex environment
  • Ability to quickly build relationships and diplomatically negotiate common approach
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Ability to work collaboratively and individually to achieve stated goals

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent consultative, facilitation, and communication skills – ability to create compelling vision, drive change, influence decision making
  • Strong business acumen to support strategic alignment of initiatives
