Responsibilities

The Federal Presales Security Engineer is responsibile for communicating with federal/public sector clients about emerging technologies, plus communication strategies and develop an understanding of clients business needs in order to protect, retain and increase revenues. Develops strategies with customers to anticipate and address their long-term business needs and identifies appropriate alternatives. Is called upon to provide technical information for difficult, sensitive or critically important accounts. Influences customers and diffuses potential problems.

Identify federal sales opportunities/solutions and positively contribute to account planning utilizing Sales Engineering tools.

Engage with members of Sales Engineering team and other departments (e.g. bid / project management/ etc) where appropriate to provide advice to meet specific client requirements.

Communicate effectively with other "virtual team" members (Business Consultants, Bid Management, Operations, Customer Services, and Billing) to ensure swift resolution of problems and assist in the development of Sales Engineering/Sales/Support teams via training and coaching.

Provide input for proposals/RFPs/RFIs/ITTs by producing network diagrams, responses, etc to Technical Sections against Verizon Business standard/ non standard deliverables and required technical oriented descriptions, thereby demonstrating how client busi

Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the communications industry and Verizon Business systems, procedures, networks, products and services to enable effective client communications.

Provide accurate account information/reports to Sales Engineering / sales management on a regular basis.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in architecture, design, and implementation of IT data center and/or infrastructure solutions for the federal government. General Enterprise Architecture skills recommended for fully outsourced datacenter services. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to design highly complex solutions in areas such as: Colocation, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Managed Hosting.

• Bachelor's degree in computing or technical discipline, or equivalent experience preferred
• Experience in a related business or technical field for at least 10 years with federal government
• Knowledge of commonly used IT and Internet concepts, practices and procedures is a must
• General knowledge of business concepts and mathematics is expected
• Working knowledge of Intel based server infrastructure running Windows and Linux
• Working knowledge of storage systems such as EMC and NetApp
• Working knowledge of networking (Cisco), Load Balancers (Citrix), and Firewalls (Cisco)
• Working knowledge of Virtualization Technologies such as VMWare
• Working knowledge of N-Tier architecture and design
• Experience following documented processes and procedures
• Excellent oral, listening, presentation, client interaction, and writing skills required
• Ability to manage in daily tasks and competing directives is a must

Additional Qualifications:

- Standard industry certification (CCNA, MSCP, ITIL, etc) a plus
- Greater than 10 years experience is a plus
