Position Summary Description:

The program manager is 100% responsible for all deliveries of the program. The primary object of the program manager is to ensure the program goals and milestones are successfully achieved. This includes all scheduled deliveries for a specific customer and/or product.

Program resources, dedicated to the program, may be direct reports or matrixed reports, based on functional team roles. These reporting relationships remain for the duration of the program only. May have more senior individuals than the PM on their core support teams.

The program manager should be a matrix lead of the Vendor support teams. The program manager should have low-level access to details of the plans of execution. This is a project management role, not strictly a customer management role.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Team Matrix Responsibilities: Navigate within the know team configuration to manage and support the given functional deliverables of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Testing/Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Logistics, Project Management, Certification, Agile & SCRUM, for Business Development, Marketing, and Sales keeping the team focused on delivery. He/she should push back on distractions that deter the team from the stated goal.

Deliver the product in scope, on time and on budget

Ensure the program goals and milestones are successfully achieved including all scheduled deliveries for a specific customer and/or product.

Ability to resolve conflicts by identifying the win-win solution and "selling" to the internal team as well as the customer

Ability to communicate complex issues to Sr. Management and drive resolution by gaining internal and external management support

Ability to manage the triple constraints of performance, cost, and time to successfully deliver the program goals and milestones

Ability to identify risk and pro-actively develop mitigation plan with the teams

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

5 to 15 years of experience with a solid technical background and some commercial/customer experience, depending on complexity of customer relationship

Experience in building and sustaining customer relationships in Engineering, Product Planning, Manufacturing, Marketing, etc.

Strong competency in engineering tools such as 6 sigma, DFM, DFA, 7D, 8D, fault tree analysis, etc.

Expertise in building and sustaining cross functional teams to deliver complex products and systems.
