The Network Architect will develop, lead, direct and execute design & architecture projects and assignments for IP Services Infrastructure (IPSI) Team based on engineering principals and company standards. The Network Architect would be responsible for project planning, IP network design, business analysis and vendor management. You would develop and coordinate technical designs and standards efforts with internal and/or external contacts. You would work with small and large groups and establish cross-functional teams across multiple organizations (globally) – internally, externally, with peers and C-level executives to accomplish network design goals.


Basic Requirements:

BS degree or Master’s degree preferred and a minimum of 9 years of experience in Network Design and Architecture required

Technology Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong presentation development and delivery skills
  • Expert hands-on experience with network design and architecture for VoIP, BGP/OSPF/ISIS routing protocols, QoS, WLAN, IP, TCP-IP, MPLS, DNS, LDP, RSVP-TE, DHCP, L2/VPWS, L3VPN, VRRP, JUNOS, IOS, XR & data center design
  • Expertise in integrated voice, data and video solutions design and support
  • Expert in large enterprise environments and working in a corporate/divisional model including International experience
  • High competency with routing and switching protocols, design concepts and configurations
  • High competency on firewall and Internet content filtering solutions
  • Telecommunications configuration and design; knowledge of Unified Communications/Unified Messaging including familiarity with enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of voice and data communication protocols (specifically SIP & RTP)
  • Expert in LAN/WAN security
  • Prior experience with SIP/VoIP monitoring tools

Leadership Skill Requirements:

  • Receiving general guidance and taking accountability for a functional area, project and/or program to produce tangible results
  • Using their experience to directly influence others inside and outside the immediate department or function
  • Developing technical proposals and presenting to multiple groups including executive management
  • Mentoring junior staff members including Verizon Leadership Development Program (VLDP) staffers

Work Complexity/Functional Accountability Requirements:

  • Managing projects in compliance with company policies and procedures in support of strategic objectives
  • Developing, implementing and securing support for new processes where current methodologies are lacking
  • Demonstrated strong technical knowledge and experience exemplary of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in field of specialization
