Responsibilities

  • Network Engineer needed for the operation of a large Wide Area/Local Area “IP” Network supported by MPLS backbone. This WAN/LAN IP network supports various large scale service networks: WSN (Wireless Service Network), EDN (Engineering Data Network), RAN (Radio Access Network) and IT (Information Technology) Network.
  • The network is comprised of multi-vendor (Cisco, Juniper) routers, ethernet switches, and load balancers which will need to be configured to meet application
requirements and project demands. The individual will need to ensure the deployment of the new hardware is in compliance with VZW standards and
best practices. This candidate will need to create as-built documentation at the end of project.
  • The individual will need to generate precise methods of procedure (MOPs) which will be implemented by Operations team. Individuals will need to support
complex changes if and when required by Operations team.

Some of the tasks include but not limited to:
  • Build out new data centers or new PODs within existing data centers
  • Build out new DMZes supporting new products
  • Modifications and enhancement to existing network infrastructure and existing DMZes
  • Capacity management to stay ahead of the traffic growth
  • Technology refresh for end of life network platforms - routers, switches and load balancers
  • Managing software upgrades for existing network platforms - routers, switches and load balancers
  • Turning up and managing BGP policies to different application service providers
  • The individual will need to provide Management and network team with daily/weekly/monthly network status on an as needed basis
  • At times, this candidate will need to audit network elements for alarming, configuration inconsistencies and optimization.
  • As networking issues are discovered this candidate will need to submit method of procedures (MOPs) and change controls to resolve these issues
  • Provide 3rd tier technical support to Operations team
