Responsibilities

This position is responsible for facilitating the recruiting process; and for partnering with the recruiting team, Hiring Managers, Diversity/College Consultant and candidates, as appropriate, to ensure quality candidate experience and that top candidates progress through the recruiting process.

Metrics:  Holds responsibility for meeting recruiting targets including:  Time to fill; diversity of candidate slate; college hires; new hire turnover.

Candidate Sourcing:  Owns and manages candidate slate. Mines job seeker databases, social networking sites and other sources to develop and maintain a fluid, diverse candidate funnel for open positions Makes sole business decision on the status of applicants moving past the first phases of the recruiting process.  Attends career fairs, college recruiting events, open houses and other community events to establish presence, strengthen Verizon Wireless employment brand, and create fluid, diverse candidate funnel for open positions.  Builds strategic relationships with recruiting partners such as colleges/universities and community organizations.  Travel is required (20-40% of time).

Job Creation:  Creates job opening descriptions, facilitates description approval process and partners with Talent Finder to ensure openings are posted.

Job Posting:  Partners with recruiting team to ensure job opening descriptions are created and approved for all openings; facilitates posting of job openings.

Resume Screening:  Screens resumes submitted for job openings.  Identifies top candidates and schedules for phone screens.  Provides feedback on candidate qualifications to recruiting team.

Candidate Screening:  Conducts phone screen of qualified applicants for open positions.  Identifies top candidates and provides candidate feedback to recruiting team.

Interviewing and Assessment:  Partners with HR Coordinator to ensure scheduling of on-site pre-hire assessment (Call Center candidates only).  Interviews candidates who have passed phone screening (and pre-hire assessment, for Call Center candidates) in person (where possible).  Assesses candidates on a multitude of aspects and determines top candidates to be interviewed by Hiring Manager.

Coordination with Hiring Manager:  Provides candidate feedback to Hiring Manger.  Liaises with candidates and Hiring Manager to ensure scheduling/execution of Hiring Manager interviews.  Collects Hiring Manager feedback post-interviews, calculates salary of top candidate and communicates hire decision.

Pre-Hire Actions:  Communicates job offers to selected candidates.  Provides information on background checks and drug screens.  Serves as guide to candidates through pre-hire screening process. 

Onboarding:  Communicates onboarding details to new hires.  Partners with relevant Business contacts on onboarding tasks, as appropriate.  Coordinates and facilitates Launch Your Success Story orientation, as necessary.

Job Closing / Document Management:  Facilitates closing of job postings.  Ensures HRIS system is appropriately updated.  Ensures compliance of Affirmative Action and EEO.  Maintains any required documentation related to closed job postings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous recruiter experience required.  Interim recruiter experience or Verizon Wireless recruiter experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills and ability to utilize HRIS system; PeopleSoft experience preferred; proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to assess candidates and make critical decisions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Facilitation/training skills preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of time
