Responsibilities

The Senior Consultant, also known as Senior Commodity Manager, plays a lead role supporting Verizon's cost savings and revenue generation business goals through the sourcing process for Passive Electronic component related activities used in the Contract Manufacturing business model. The senior Commodity Manager works independently, managing multiple time-sensitive client projects with the guidance of the Director, Contract Manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the cross functional team (CFT) to determine the business and technical requirements and drafts necessary language to translate them into RFXs for distribution to suppliers
  • Drives all aspects of complex strategic sourcing RFP’s and direct contract negotiation processes and leads negotiations of business and pricing terms
  • Responsible for end to end, strategic elements of the sourcing process in order to drive consensus on critical supplier selection actions
  • Analysis of supplier proposals and presentation to cross functional teams
  • Determining and analyzing supplier qualifications
  • Partners with internal clients to develop negotiation strategy, objectives and plans, and manage contract negotiations with incumbent and potential new suppliers
  • Determining the clients' or CFTs' product or service technical and business requirements
  • Perform ongoing supplier management to ensure contract terms, conditions and performance management compliance
  • Maximizing Verizon's purchasing power to achieve a lower cost while mitigating risk
  • Develop strategies and support development of requirements for use in obtaining competitive business and pricing alternatives from suppliers
  • Champions, develops, manages, and drives key relationships that are critical to the success of sourcing projects
  • Develop and Manage Business Continuity plans with suppliers
  • Apply critical thinking skills and work independently to make sound business decisions on behalf of the company
  • Ability to solve complex problems to ensure business and financial issues result in sound decisions
  • Works with clients to resolve supplier related business issues
  • Stays current with industry trends, and becomes a Trusted Advisor to our clients.
  • Presents new products, technologies and services from existing or new suppliers to clients.
  • The Senior Electro-Mechanical Commodity Manager plays a lead role supporting Verizon's cost savings and revenue generation business goals through the sourcing process for Semiconductor component related activities used in the Contract Manufacturing business model. The senior Commodity Manager works independently, managing multiple time-sensitive client projects with the guidance of the Director, Contract Manufacturing.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent experience required
  • 10+ years related experience in the one or more of the following areas
  • Experience in contract negotiations to include business, price and technical terms
  • Experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Contract Management
  • Experience in working with Contract Mfg and Global Electronic Distribution companies
  • 10+ years Passive Electronics Sourcing or Commodity Management experience with >$100M spend
  • RFP experience
  • Experience leading or participating in Cross Functional Teams (CFT)
  • Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes, policies, and procedures
  • Experience in building Commodity Strategy
  • Experience in working with Contract Manufacturing, ODM.JDM
  • Experience in data analysis & supplier assessment
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience developing resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of -creativity.
  • Experience in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and client service skills
