Responsibilities

Verizon Enterprise Services ("VES") provides business solutions to thousands of companies worldwide.   As part of VES, the Vertical Solutions team is expected to grow revenue and profitability for VES by leveraging Verizon’s core platforms such as network, cloud, security, contact center solutions, telematics solutions, and managed services.   

We have a highly visible position for a high-energy, self-motivated Global Practice Lead for our Entertainment vertical that includes both internal and external executive presence and presentations, strategizing with key business leaders and technology partners, and frequent interactions with senior executives within the Verizon Marketing, Sales, Product Development/Management, and Finance organizations. 

The Global Practice Lead for Entertainment will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (“SME”) for Sales and cross-functional teams to increase business customer adoption of relevant Verizon products through solutions that enhance productivity, drive revenue, improve customer experience, and manage risk.  To be successful in this role, the chosen candidate requires a deep awareness and understanding of customer and market trends, including hardware and software innovations, customer requirements for information, technology solutions and the competitive landscape. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to effectively manage virtual stakeholder teams across Verizon to drive industry specific outcomes for the Entertainment vertical.   The incumbent will accompany sales teams on customer visits from time-to-time as the industry SME and industry leader.

There are five key areas that the Global Practice Lead for Entertainment will champion:

Virtual Leadership:  Virtually lead a vertical practice across Verizon comprising of representation from Sales, Product, Strategy, AR/PR, and Sales Engineering/Solution Architecture;

Vertical Industry Market Intelligence:  Assess change dynamics of vertical ecosystems and obtain the Voice of the Customer (from account teams and customer interactions)

Vertically Targeted Product Strategy and Product Marketing:  Vertically target product development (in cooperation with Verizon’s product development/management organization); vertically targeted partners/channel development; product marketing of vertically focused solutions

Industry Marketing:  Support tradeshows & conferences (an occasional presentation may be required at these shows); write white papers and industry briefs; lead development of marketing communications content and liaison with the Marketing team to ensure the correct delivery of these communications.

Sales Enablement:  Position the vertical sales teams to “speak the language” of the verticals; business development sales support including SME abilities;  develop vertical training content and liaison with the Training organization to ensure proper delivery of the content and;  retention and growth marketing programs to meet sales and revenue targets.

The incumbent will be required to identify major themes of opportunity and determine the product strategy that leverages Verizon’s strategic assets coupled with partner solutions.

Be responsible for establishing credibility with external analysts, media, and other influencers required for the successful promotion of offerings, solutions, practice areas through white papers, social media presence, and speaking engagements at industry forums and events.

Manage development budgets and be accountable for annual revenue targets for Verizon services delivering access and connectivity solutions for vertical customers.

Qualifications

10+ years’ experience in a particular industry vertical and 5+ years of product development, management, or marketing

Business and technology experience in the Vertical segment having held different roles within the same company or different companies within a given industry vertical that includes, but is not limited to, Strategic Planning, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance and/or Information Technology.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment while maintaining a longer term strategic perspective of Verizon’s role with the specific sector; demonstrated track record of working and advising C-Level clients and Senior Executive relationships in your industry vertical.  

Thorough understanding of industry vertical, business segmentation, and applicable law and compliance regulations as well as detailed knowledge of emerging global trends and issues in the Manufacturing segment.

Leadership skills:  Demonstrated leadership and management skills and track record in the development, deployment, and marketing of products and new technologies; technical leadership and excellent troubleshooting skills; proven ability to build relationships and work independently; excellent judgment and the ability to handle escalated situations.

 Project Management skills: Experience managing the development and creation of statements of work and proposal responses; proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans; outstanding problem solving and analytical skills

Negotiations & Communication skills:  Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communications skills; proven track record as a successful negotiator with all levels of management; strong presentation and communications skills at multiple levels of an organization

A strong plus, will include: having industry recognition and affiliations; Profit and Loss accountability and results; past experience building / launching successful new business areas / practices, and deep knowledge of players and competition to select acquisition and/or investment targets and partnerships to advance the strategic roadmap

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • BS required
  • MS/MBA preferred
