This senior, managing engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of new, best-in-class, leading-edge products for mCommerce. Additionally responsible for coordinating cross-discipline project support of product launch initiatives against the resources available within peer departments [ex: Device, Network, IT, etc].

A major emphasis of this position will focus on in-depth understanding and evaluation of product requirements generated by product managers. As the champion of these requirements, you will participate in each phase of 1) drafting detailed product description documents and use cases 2) compliance review of product description documents with product managers and cross functional teams, 3) Drafting initial product development plan and marketing requirements, 4) Identifying, assigning and managing the cross functional core teams throughout the product development cycle, ensuring core team members and vendors understand and meet our product specifications and timelines. This includes any post-launch systems, software or hardware revisions as part of the product lifecycle.

The position will report to the Director of Product Development/Management. This person is responsible for articulating the various product development requirements of mCommerce (ex: Isis Mobile Wallet, Carrier Billing, Remote Payments, General Purpose Reloadable prepaid products, etc., then assess the capabilities and resources of the cross-departmental organizations to help the management team make more informed decisions regarding product development priorities and project timelines.

The candidate must be detailed oriented, able to work independently yet foster a team spirit amongst peers to meet business deadlines within a dynamic environment.

· Manage the development cycle for new products via internal, cross-functional groups on an on-going basis for the life of a project.
· Generate detailed, technical product requirement documents for submission to Device, Network and IT groups and outside vendors.
· Assess new technology and solution providers.

Qualifications

· BS degree Required, Computer Science, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering
· Preferred MS degree, Computer Science, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering
· 8-10 years relevant product/software development experience
· 6+ years of technical vendor management experience preferred.
· 8+ years of product management experience in defining, developing and launching products in consumer channels
· Previous, demonstrated direct personnel management experience of a software/product development group
· Previous experience managing cross-functional teams within Verizon Wireless
· Technical project management processes
· Mobile Commerce experience in payments, remote payments, carrier billing · An understanding of the financial value chain in payments including issuers, processors, standards bodies
· Understanding of the key disruptive capabilities to established value chain in fraud control, payment acceptance, proximity marketing
· Terms like NFC, HCE, Card not present, EMVCO and arbitrage should make sense
· Managed a high performing team of marketing or product managers
· A desire to innovate an entrepreneurial mindset with a healthy disregard for the impossible
· Ability to facilitate collaborative resolution of issues with a “win-win” approach
· Strong knowledge of commercial software, hardware and Internet technology
· Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills are essential.
· Demonstrated technical subject matter expertise in wireless data and TCP/IP
· Some travel [domestic and international] required.
