Network Applications Technician

Responsibilities

  • The Technician is responsible for the operation, and maintenance of the various assigned NSS Performance Applications.
  • Troubleshooting; upgrading; administering these applications
  • Monitoring system, application, element and platform data collection processes, providing support and communications to a varied user community
  • Composing clear, concise reports for system documentation.
  • The Systems Technician is expected to perform his/her duties with minimum supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or AA degree with min 4 years relevant experience
  • In depth knowledge of Unix shell languages and scripting (Bash/Korn/Perl)
  • Strong working knowledge of UNIX (Solaris/Redhat) and Oracle
  • Working Knowledge of SQL Plus and PL/SQL
  • Oracle administration and basic understanding of relational DBs
  • Ability to work closely with other VZW teams and external vendors to resolve issues and implement application enhancements
  • Experience with HP C7000 Blades desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Remedy
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays for 24/7 on call support rotation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with monitoring NetApp and Violin SAN arrays desirable
