This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities related to the design, development, and implementation of organizational information systems and software applications. The Development Supervisor is also responsible for facilitating the maintenance, support and enhancement of applications (ie. Wholesale System Support). This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide his/her development team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical information and software systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures that project plans proceed as scheduled and are enforced or modified, as needed. Assess and allocates time and resources in order to assign specific tasks to various staff members. Negotiates deadlines, and ensures that they are met. Provides regular updates to management on project and defect status and progress.
  2. Ensures that staff is following the Software Development Lifecycle and that they are delivering properly tested software products in a timely manner per requirements provided by Program Management.
  3. Ensures adherence to coding/programming requirements. Review and approve requested system enhancements/changes delivered by IT development team.
  4. Makes sure that software development products follow established release procedures for both scheduled and emergency requests prior to deployment.
  5. Establishes flexible processes for team to ensure that staff is able to incorporate timely changes (updates, new releases) to existing applications.
  6. Manages interaction between IT and other functional areas to maximize organizational effectiveness by negotiating deliverables, following appropriate processes and proposing process improvement.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 4-7 employees. Performs supervisory responsibilities by managing and allocating employee resources in accordance with Verizon policies and initiatives/goals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work (including scheduling); appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Acts as a change agent, and develops a high-performing team in the spirit of exceptional service to all internal and external partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from four-year college/university plus six to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior leadership or supervisory experience required; prefer minimum of three years.
