Responsibilities

Provides complex financial analysis and decision support for the Verizon New Product Development Group:

  • Financial Analysis… perform analysis of financial results, trends, and variances; identify key drivers of performance; provide relevant and timely insight along with practical solutions and recommendations on improving group performance and results
  • Analytics, Reporting…develop, implement, and maintain recurring operational reporting that provides key financial analytics to clients (expense, revenue, sales, headcount); provide insight and explanations on financial performance (e.g. trends, variance drivers, linkage to other areas)
  • Business Planning… develop operational budgets and plans for specific financial areas (expense, headcount, revenue areas); maintain ongoing forecasts/outlooks for specific financial measures
  • Financial Management… design, develop and implement ad hoc analysis in response to business needs and performance trends within a particular segment/channel; research specific issues that impact financial performance; identify actions & make recommendations to improve performance
  • Communications… effectively apply written, verbal and interpersonal communications; present information, financial results, and business recommendations in a professional and influential manner across multiple levels within the organization
  • Projects… manage multiple projects and initiatives that span across financial and business areas, often in collaboration with other finance groups such as Regional Finance, Sales Analytics, Financial Operations, Marketing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience required
  • Master in Finance, Accounting, Economics, MBA or equivalent preferred
  • 4 plus years financial analysis experience required
  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP and principles of general financial analysis
  • Proven time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel/Access/PowerPoint) and demonstrated abilities in various financial platforms and reporting tools (e.g. vSAP, nSAP, CPM, Essbase, Hyperion)
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Responsible for communicating effectively at all levels
  • Individual contributor who utilizes discretion and independent judgment in the completion of tasks; highly autonomous and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently with personal accountability, communicate effectively and concisely; apply critical thinking and sound judgment in unstructured situations; must be able to adapt to change in a demanding environment
  • Knowledge of sales channels, segments, and product portfolio preferred
