The Portfolio Management team at Verizon Wireless’ Device Marketing Organization is responsible for exploring, selecting, defining and managing Verizon Wireless Retail channel device portfolio.  In addition, the team also interfaces with key ecosystem partners in order to ensure appropriate support for our product lineup.

This individual will support the development of our portfolio strategy based on competitive analysis, consumer behavior, OEM capability analysis, pricing trends, market size, product design trends …etc.  The output of this role will be used to inform and influence executive thinking and ultimately set direction for portfolio planning & decisions.

This individual will also drive the initiative to upgrade our internal database, ensuring we have a tool that allows us to centralize all of the relevant internal data as well as provide an easy interface for the team to pull reports with the latest market and company data.

Must be able to quickly gather and analyze relevant data, develop reasonable/defensible assumptions in the absence of perfect information, use existing/create new models and frameworks to evaluate opportunities, synthesize cogent recommendations and develop effective exec level communications of such strategies.

Portfolio Planning / Management
Accountable for defining product roadmap direction based on market analysis, financial analysis, established strategic priorities & internal feedback.  Also responsible for packaging such recommendations into clear and actionable communications.

Support definition of product positioning for inclusion in VZW Segmentation Strategy.

Drive vendor interaction to refine product proposals.  

Work with team members to create on-demand executive-level analyses and strategic recommendations.

Business Analysis / Competitive Intelligence
Synthesizing market analysis, financial analysis, established strategic priorities & internal feedback to create recommendations.  Also responsible for packaging such recommendations into clear and actionable communications.

Provide different levels of analysis of Competitive Landscape Trends: device categories, OEMs view, services/apps, carriers, etc.).

Financial analysis of the target market/subject and the various strategic options under consideration. 

Assess the ROI of driving new functionality into the handset.

Stay abreast of industry, emerging technologies and market trends. Remain current on emerging/disruptive technologies.



4+ years professional experience including work at a top tier OEM or operator/ tech sector consulting firm/ wireless market research . 

Experience in Product Strategy/Strategic Planning/Strategy at a leading technology company. 

Experience working with different databases, analyzing data and upgrading tools

Product Management experience in defining, developing and launching wireless products preferred.
Strong knowledge of Wireless, Internet, PC, Software and Consumer Electronics industries

Experience defining business benefits to technology solutions

Excellent analytical skills with ability to build market sizing models and business cases

Demonstrated ability to utilize highly structured thinking to develop approaches to complex problems

Proficient with MS Office especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Excellent time management, organizational and team work. Able to set priorities effectively.

Proven self-starter and collaborator. 

Strong problem solver, positive, energetic, creative thinker, tenacious, customer-oriented.

EDUCATION: BA/BS.  MBA preferred
