This position is for either our Ashburn, VA or Basking Ridge, NJ location

A team member delivering technical and business solutions that provide Verizon with world class public networking solutions. Responsibilities include identifying and forecasting changes in the market and technology, sources and drivers for such changes, and identifying, recommending, and implementing appropriate architectures and solutions in response. This individual will partner with multiple Network teams (Design, Architecture, Maintenance Engineering, Infrastructure, Capacity Engineering), as well as Strategy, Operations, and Marketing teams and should expect to assist Account teams in supporting strategic customers.

  1. Develop and maintain the 5-year Public IP network and mobile Internet access product technology roadmap, capable of maximizing Verizon value for supported products in all regions.
  2. Collaborate with wireless and wireline Public IP product vendors and applicable industry experts for awareness and definition of future technology requirements.
  3. Develop annual budgets for new technology introduction to include IT business requirements for software and hardware. Development the business case to include the technology rollout roadmap.
  4. Partner with IP network Design and Architecture teams to support edge customer product evolution.
  5. Assist with development of product migration planning when new product technology addresses continuing serviceability, regulatory or other legal requirements.
  6. Identify strategic locations, such as global data centers and IP exchange points, for continued network deployments necessary for future Internet product viability.
  7. Maintain and support ongoing efforts to maximize network capacity, based on customer’s future needs, as forecasted by Sales.
  8. Partner with product teams to ensure low cost access technologies drive Internet product mid-market acceptance with regard to feature/function.



Required Skills & Experience:

5+ years network experience, preferably a blend of wireless and wireline.

  • Technical knowledge of supporting network and technology platforms for Verizon’s dedicated Internet and mobile Internet access portfolio.
  • Familiarity with network and device requirements / certification processes (3GPP), Verizon or industry generic.
  • Industry/vendor certifications including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, and ALU.
  • Technical knowledge of content delivery and cloud solutions models, managed services, and analytics.
  • Network fundamentals including routing protocols and Ethernet access technologies.
  • Leverage existing customer traffic flow patterns to predict future trends, taking necessary corrective action where necessary.
  • Understanding of overall network architecture and design application for delivery of other product segments.
  • Hands-on experience with Internet regulatory bodies.
  • Results focused individual with proven business and technical acumen.
