Significantly contributes to the delivery of financial and/or accounting services as an Individual Contributor working in specific areas within Finance and/or Accounting and also assists in establishing required linkages to the global Finance organization. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of financial, accounting and additional support systems. Works to support the team as assigned enabling the business through technology enhancements with various assigned tasks to collect and assimilate data. Demonstrates understanding of systems and interdependencies of processes to drive the business toward the development of systems that enable processes. A further key responsibility of this position is to identify any improvement opportunities in this area and, if asked to, contribute to the design and implementation of new processes or procedures as a result of identifying improvement opportunities. Value is provided to the enterprise by constantly improving the processes associated with the delivery of specific Finance and/or Accounting services to provide timely, accurate information and to ultimately safeguard Verizon assets.

  • Provides subject matter expertise on complex processes or issues to the assigned team and work stream.
  • Analyzes and interprets reports for managers providing recommendations to guide business decisions.
  • Maintains ongoing interaction with internal client groups and other functional areas relating to objectives, deliverables, resource allocation and related matters.
  • Develops, implements and maintains systems, procedures and policies for their assigned work stream or function(s).
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies and controls, and with external regulations.
  • Undertakes complex projects and provides guidance on project related issues as needed.
  • Leads or participates, as required, in training and skills development initiatives as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Participates in user acceptance testing activities associated with new or modified systems.
  • Fields issue escalations from internal customers or delivery partners and responds to customer inquiries as requested, ensuring issue and error resolution.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities for their work stream and works closely with either the internal team or service providers (if any) to enable the implementation of improvement opportunities.
  • Assists in assessing the services delivered by the service providers (if any) and validating that performance metrics established by service level agreements are met as applicable.

II. Additional responsibilities

The Consultant – Analysis & Reporting position is responsible for performing operational and financial/economic analysis related to Collections Strategy and Operations enabling informed and effective business decisions for the Bill to Cash Finance Operations organization. This position provides expert advice and consultation on initiatives. Consultant will extract data, complete analysis and provide associated recommendations to all stakeholders and national partners, with an eye towards significant transformation in the way of results and efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Quantitative analysis, trending, reporting, and execution to drive improvement in collections strategy effectiveness and churn drivers for leadership.

  • Work closely with the National Strategy Operations to support the business' overall vision of reducing bad debt and churn.
  • Propose alternative strategic and operational tactics to further improve overall results and efficiency.
  • Partner with National Strategy Operations, Field Operations, and/or Project Management teams to create and provide strategic oversight of actionable plans to improve bad debt and churn through reviewing and analyzing data.
  • Oversee and track progress to close performance gaps as measured by departmental results; communicate project status, risks, and objectives to all audiences.
  • Develop financial and analytical analyses, including business cases and predictive models (i.e. NPV, ROI, scenario analysis) to assess the viability of alternative strategies and initiatives, incorporating expert insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop and monitor financial controls to measure success including performance against projected KPI targets (i.e. productivity improvements, call deflection) for implemented strategies and recommendations.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with front line, Operations and National Strategy Operation teams. Participate on project teams to anticipate and monitor results.
  • Develop executive-level presentations for socialization of critical results, insights and recommendations.
  • Provide financial, statistical and operational analyses, in support of key productivity and cost savings opportunities, and deliver action-oriented recommendations, resulting in attainment of Finance Operation goals.
  • Identify and analyze data/trends, building correlations between operational metrics that drive both strategic and tactical opportunities. Perform transaction sampling/data mining analysis to identify root cause behind trends and understand drivers which impact our KPIs.

Develop analytical tools/scenario analyses to compare results under various key driver assumptions, and identify financial risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

Desired experience

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in credit and/or collections desired with 2+ years of professional experience in reporting, financial analysis, or forecasting.
  • Professional certification (e.g. SQL, Java)
  • Employees/Candidates with professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA) or MBA are preferred.
  • Experience in the preparation of system requirement and/or approach documentation are preferred.
  • Advanced experience with CFS Collections systems (e.g. CACS, iCollect, CAS, etc.).
  • Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry preferred, but not required. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate complex ideas. Includes strong presentation building skills with ability to convey relevant meaning.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage with little supervision, manage multiple initiatives at one time, and meet deadlines required.
  • Results oriented, proactive and flexible, strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to develop strong internal relationships with all levels of management, including executive leadership and operations teams; openness to collaboration and feedback; demonstrated ability to build consensus.

Required experience

  • Advanced experience in data mining using SQL.
  • Advanced experience in macro development.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel and Powerpoint; strong written and oral communications skills.
