Positions Responsibilities

The Design for Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (DFLSS MBB) at Verizon is charged to execute on core design related project with goals to improve the customer experience, sustainability and profitability while creating an agile organization.  They will work with local and business unit leaders to train, develop and execute DFLSS as well as support smaller scale DFLSS projects with other Black Belt leaders. 

They will perform the following responsibilities but not limited to:

•Lead business/functional unit Design for six sigma project executions. Plan, support and provide coaching to others in the DFLSS & DMAIC methodology, including executives, champions, general management, Lean Six Sigma Black Belts and Lean Six Sigma Green Belts

•Mentor and teach DFLSS Black Belt candidates in all or in specific modules of the Lean Six Sigma curriculum. Participate in Black Belt  & Green Belt training

•Provide guidance as a resource to champions, functional departments, and business units in identifying, planning and implementing DFLSS projects that will provide optimum benefits resulting in significant business improvement

•Provide active and aggressive leadership in problem solving efforts on key projects to improve revenue, market penetration, share of the wallet, quality, reduce cost and improve cycle time (i.e. wasted time, scrap, rework, etc...) and improving financials

•Liaise with other business unit leaders on projects that have multi-organization or business unit scope and impact

•Develop material and tools on DFLSS specific to Verizon.

•Provide management with project status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on key, process focused objectives

Required Skills

•Proven leadership skills and business acumen

•Excellent understanding of analytical tools (Crystal Ball, Monte Carlo etc..) and statistics, capable of explaining the theoretical derivations of probability and statistics

•Excellent training and presentation skills with solid communication capabilities including oral and written

•Broad strategic thinker, with clear vision and direction of world class change management and a passion for the Six Sigma methodologies as a strategically critical business philosophy

•Good project management and team work skills, with sound negotiation and problem solving skills and a reputation as a leader of change

•Strong interpersonal capabilities, and able to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive and/or emotive issues, a change leader

•Demonstrates a keen desire to continually learn and grow

•Self-starter and performance driven

•Skillful in relationship building and negotiating

•4-year degree required in engineering, business or technical discipline or equivalent work experience

•Graduate degree a plus

•Holds certification as a MBB or Black Belt highly desirable

•Minimum of 10 years of industry experience

•Demonstrated experience in design for six sigma or design for lean six sigma

•Experienced team leader with proven problem solving experience and process focus
