Creating In-Building assessment, RFP issuance, and approvals.
Using system tools such as Network Flow, Siterra, VZ Reg, Express Bid, C-Squared Monitoring, CATS Inventory Management System, and PeopleSoft to create projects, POs, etc. and using propagation design tools such as Geoplan/Atoll and iBwave.
Working with vendors to review and approve large venue designs such as stadiums, arenas, etc. Working with OEMs and Install Vendors to properly order and install DAS Systems.
Working with market system performance engineers in optimization of the venue/non-venue project location.
Supporting the investigation and resolution of customer complaints regarding service by using drive test tools, post processing and mapping tools to determine root causes.
Baseline activities play a key role in optimizing our Network and improving customer experiences month over month. The Engineer will be working on many Baseline initiatives as we grow our LTE Network. Collaborates with other Network groups, (e.g., Real Estate, System Performance, Construction, etc.). Typically manages multiple projects at a time.
Pursuing technical issues, problem solving, and reviewing new technical products/services to the benefit and improvement of the overall network.
Using internal tools to process documentations required for FAA/FCC filings and compliance.
Redesigning mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints and improve SINR while working with other areas of network to ensure capacity and performance fixes/initiatives are in place.
Partnering with System Performance to reduce Lost Calls, Ineffective Attempts, RRC setup failures, RRC Drops, Context Setup Failures, and Context Drops. Supports System Performance Engineers as they investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding service and by using post-processing and mapping tools to determine root causes.
Assisting the regional team in the build program using Network Flow and propagation design with Geoplan.
Performing In-Building design including antenna selection and placement, utilizing knowledge of LTE, CDMA 1X/EVDO and microwave to contribute in network designs.
Supporting the efforts of System Performance Engineers as they investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding service and by using post processing and mapping tools to determine root causes.
Collaborating with Area planning to line up priorities for coverage, capacity and performance and creation of the annual budget and refinement throughout the year.
Reviewing capacity reports and growth rates at the site level and use information in design efforts.
Collaborating with other Network groups, (e.g., real estate, system performance, construction, regulatory, legal, etc.) to drive the build plan, to identify stalled objectives, and to assure that Verizon’s network quality and financial objectives are met. Typically manages multiple projects at a time.
Designing with use of alternative technologies such as RRH, TMA’s, small cells, repeaters and in-building
Analyze baseline, Nielsen, Root Metrics results and implement solutions for improving those results.
Conduct drive testing, analyze drive data, monitor OMs and continuously optimize networks to improve performance and to meet or exceed goals.
Identify areas that require coverage improvement or capacity offload. Implement changes including releasing search rings.
Review all aspects of job functions and recommend new procedures, programs, or test tools to enable greater job productivity.
Interface with PM, real estate, construction, switch/field operations, engineering, sales, marketing, finance and legal to assure that Verizon’s network quality and financial objectives are met.
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience required. Master degree is a plus.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry with direct experience in RF Design, RF Engineering, or RF System Performance of CDMA and LTE.
Demonstrated knowledge in the following platforms and/or technologies: System Design including LTE, CDMA, EVDO, and GSM; Voice cells infrastructure including Lucent and Motorola; Wireless data service including LTE, CDMA.
Familiarity with Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson small cell technologies and cell site hardware, switch, and various subscriber equipment, preferred.
Understanding of call processing (originations, handoffs) and data networking (switching/routing, TCP/IP).
Proficient in office computer applications and operating test equipment: Datapro or equivalent commercial data collection tools, Windcatcher, Real Time Tool, Chicago Web Page, Zite/SSAT, Alerts, Neighbor List Tool, Autotest, Agilent Tool, Dashboard, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, MapInfo, GeoPlan; pilot scanners, baseline equipment, spectrum analyzers.
Understanding of interference detection and correction techniques.
Understanding of antenna characteristics and antenna system design/selection.
Ability to work autonomously and with minimum supervision.
Ability to present as a Subject Matter Expert with relative discipline to large audiences both network and sales channel.
IBwave certification with in building design/small cell experience a plus.
Flexibility with work hours, as some night or weekend work as well as travel will be required.
