Responsibilities

 

Functional Responsibilities

Position is part of the Government Network Operations and Security Center (GNOSC).  It involves providing network services support to multiple U.S. Government civilian and Department of Defense customers.  The primary role for this position is to offer customer support at Tier III level.  Daily operations include maintaining services infrastructure based on Juniper and Cisco routers.  It also includes addressing network change requests, supporting network incidents (ex. outages/service degradation) and reviewing chronic problems.  The position will interface with customers and internal Verizon organizations.   The GNOSC operates in an ISO 20000 certified environment.  The engineer supporting the NOC will be measured on his/her ability to perform according to processes and procedures responding to service requests, performing problem analysis and executing change management. The position is full time 8/hours per day.  Will support technical escalations at Tier III level and will join on-call rotation as needed.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

Must have or be able to obtain an active DoD SECRET clearance. A minimum of 5 to 7 year experience dealing with customers during service requests, problem resolution and operating under service level agreements. Hands-on experience in a NOC environment is mandatory.  This includes hands-on experience with Juniper, Cisco routers, LAN switches and network management and performance analysis tools. Proficiency in networking protocols such as IPVPN, IP, MPLS, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and IPSec.  Solid understanding of IPv4 and some level of hands-on exposure to IPv6.  Associates or four year College degree on technical field is required.  Good technical writing skill.

 

Summary of minimum qualification:

 

  • At least 5 to 7 years’ experience supporting network operations environment
  • Proficient in networking protocols
    • IP, MPLS
    • BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
    • IPv4 (solid), IPv6 (hands-on exposure)
    • IPSec/IPVPN
  • Solid understanding of DNS, NTP, Firewalls, ACLs
  • Experience with network management and tools
  • Proficient on Juniper and Cisco routers and switches
  • Able to write basic scripts for task automation
  • Good technical writing
  • At least one active technical certification such as CCNP or CCIE, Cisco, or equivalent on  Juniper
  • able to obtain DoD clearance at secret level
