This is a highly skilled technical position, which exercises a significant level of independence and interpretative skills while performing complex, detailed and diverse duties with minimal supervision. This job combines all duties and responsibilities of the former job titles, of Frame Administrator and Senior Frame Administrator. The Frame Specialist performs indoor technical work. A Frame Specialist connects and disconnects, inspects and repairs cable pairs and frame equipment. Also acts as a coordinator. This position is supporting a special project lasting about a year. The hours of this role are form 11PM to 7AM.


Climb ladders and works aloft using hand tools.
Completes work by using hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, soldering irons and special test equipment.
Performs and tests wiring work that connects, changes or disconnects central office equipment to the outside plant facility serving customer's premises.
Reads and interprets service orders, circuit diagrams and follows standard practices.
Uses company documents such as service orders, circuit and trunk orders and line and station transfer sheets as sources of information for work to be performed.
Pulls wire and carries test equipment, wire coils and associated equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
Uses a headset to assist other craft employees in testing and clearing troubles.
Routinely inspects and repairs all parts of the frames by viewing and feeling for breaks or loose wire(s).
Tests wire work for the purposes of assuring reliable service and identifying troubles.
Coordinates the activities of other groups and departments such as cable throws, complex service orders, traffic line transfers, etc.
Assigns job priorities and keeps records of work in progress.
SLC card verification and installation.
ISDN testing with telephone test sets.
Digital AML verification and installation.
Gas testing in cable vaults.
May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.


Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.
Normal Medical Department authorization for this job except if previously taken and is still considered valid.
In areas where required, must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record. License Abstract (verification check) required.
Must be able to drive standard shift (applies only in some locations).
Satisfactory performance rating in present job.
Satisfactory attendance/punctuality record in present job.
Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business. Associates may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as the needs of the business necessitate.

Salary Information

Hourly Rate: $10.88 - $37.66
