The Priority Services Wireline Engineer is responsible for translating business needs into technical solutions, and defining solutions to problems through reasoned application of telecommunications and information technology. The Priority Services Wireline Engineer should have an advanced knowledge and diverse skills in technologies & multiple vendors to include design and architecture of various platforms and need to be master in IPT & IP PBX and Traditional PBX Voice technology environments

The Priority Services Wireline Engineer will:

  • Apply practical skills and experience across many application and infrastructure (operational) products, technologies, and services.
  • Develop comprehensive solutions using enterprise-class routing, switching, wireless, and application services. High level responsibilities include leading the design and integration of networking solutions with job responsibilities that will vary from architecture roadmap development to the deployment of network hardware.
  • Establish, implement, and enforce appropriate standards in the creation and implementation of the solution whenever project requirements call for or would benefit from the use of standards
  • Work closely with vendor and internal technical teams to deliver technical solutions to the customer
  • Lead technical engagements promoting the use of technology, and of specific technologies, in order to achieve buy-in from the customer, vendors, and corporate technology management  to create new opportunities and business relationships
  • Mediate opposing viewpoints and negotiate equitable solutions to ensure successful and stable outcomes.
  • Help to define Priority Services architectural roadmap and prepare for business need.
  • Maintain a baseline of industry knowledge to advice on technical trends and techniques and apply them to the development of solution designs


  • Proficient in the use of modeling techniques - such as use case, scenario modeling, prototyping, benchmarking, and performance modeling - to describe the problem space, to size the solution and to validate that the proposed architecture addresses the business requirements
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of voice network architecture and design disciplines, operational support familiarity, previous and current extensive hands-on implementation and thorough configuration knowledge and capabilities for voice, data and video networks at Access, Aggregation, and Core network locations
  • Understanding of Telco practices for TDM voice service. General Knowledge of best practices with Telephony Switch networks using switching interfaces such as GR-303 and TR-08. Also knowledge of SS7, AIN, LNP, etc. In depth knowledge of IP Telephony and IP Telephony signaling technologies (SIP, H.323, MGCP)
  • Thorough understanding of modern service provider networking technologies, standards, and solutions including but not limited to: MPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP4, STP, RSTP, 802.1q, 802.1ah, ADSL2+,  BGP, EIGRP, TFTP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SMTP, SYSLOG, multicast, policy-based routing, ether-channel, QoS, traffic-shaping, load balancing, Optimization, etc.
  • Strong understanding and work experience in wireless and wireline business areas. 


  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Network Engineering with five or more years of directly related experience in a telecommunications service provider network.  At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification

 Must have or be able to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance 

  • Ability to execute in a methodical manner to gather, document, and present specific customer requirements as well as articulate technical solutions
  • Ability to work with senior engineers to develop architecture roadmap and standards
  • Exceptional documentation skills that can clearly articulate technical designs, issues and constraints, procedures, and network assessments
  • Strong analytical and problem determination/resolution skills
  • Integrates industry experience and deep professional/technical knowledge.
  • Technical leader and recognized SME expert on select technologies/systems/procedures. Has basic knowledge of other disciplines/specialty areas.
  • Develops new concepts/methods/techniques for cross functional initiatives.
  • Self-directed to complete tasks in both a professional and timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work alone as an individual contributor, as a technical lead and as a participant in a team environment.
  • Leads multiple small to medium sized projects and technical breadth.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills regarding technical and non-technical concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish professional working relationships with varying levels of both business and technical personnel
