General Summary of Position

The Director, Lean Six Sigma Deployment (LSS) has the responsibility and accountability for the effective implementation of Lean Six Sigma and the achievement of the desired results by leading a nucleus of lean Six Sigma projects in the assigned Business unit. This individual works with direction from the BU LSS leader as well as ED-Deployment to define the expectations and operating systems to coordinate the timely implementation of the Lean Six Sigma deployment. This person will be recognized as the thought leader on execution of complex LSS business projects.

Position Scope:

  • This position will report to the ED, LSS Deployment.
  • The scope of the work will include people at the senior executive business unit leaders and business level Lean Six sigma leaders, down through Champion levels as well as external consultants
  • Lead a team of 10 to 12 experienced MBBs.
  • This individual should have ample experience in leading, designing and implementing lean systems in complex and matrixed operations of large corporations
  • Lead all aspects of BU LSS working closely with BU LSS leader.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Develops the overall Lean Six Sigma project execution strategy for business projects, appropriates resources and approves the high level deployment guidance
  • Proactively supports and leads the deployment of the Lean Six Sigma effort in harmony with the overall business vision for the most benefit to the business
  • Drive Project selection workouts for significant value add projects
  • Drive tollgates for project approval and create a project review process
  • Develop project best practice sharing process and implementation of best ideas across enterprise
  • Help or lead on behalf of the VLSS leader in planning for VLSS activities in BU
  • Proactively influence stake holders for communication and buy in
  • Articulates approach and selects appropriate methods to solve a problem or design a solution. Help avoid using a “hammer for a pin” situations.
  • Strong project management expertise to supervise complex project execution
  • Resolves issues, concerns and conflicts at the executive level on matters affecting the planned implementation of Lean Six Sigma
  • Holds periodic, focused, Lean Six Sigma reviews with lean six sigma leadership team to assess the progress, status and issues in the effective application of Lean Six Sigma
  • Supports business Lean six sigma leaders on complex projects, help start up the business or Functional specific deployment
  • Acts as an executive consultant on various business needs on business process excellence
  • Participate in improving VLSS training with BU examples.

Attributes and Skills Requirements:

  • Proven leadership skills and business acumen - performance driven
  • Proven experience in leading a complex business P&L is highly desired
  • Proven experience in six sigma deployment and project execution
  • Broad strategic thinker, with clear vision and direction of world class change management
  • A quick learner to assimilate company's strategies and change philosophies, company’s core value streams as well as the primary products and services
  • Excellent presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written
  • Understands and appreciates the application and power of analytical techniques and data driven decision making
  • Respected and trusted leader with a proven track record of achievement, solid management skills and a reputation as a leader of change
  • Skillful in relationship building and negotiating, and will demonstrate a strong “can do” attitude

Experience:

  • Demonstrated complex program management and /or P&L experience
  • Expertise with analytical methods, and change management concepts
  • A certified MBB or a BB with proven track record
  • 4-year degree in engineering, business, or technical discipline
  • Graduate degrees highly desirable
  • Proven record of performance and trusted professional credibility
