Responsible for RF capacity planning and traffic engineering for the region. The engineer will perform capacity forecasting and planning for the RF and backhaul elements and will also work closely with other departments such as switch and data engineering dependent upon forecasting outputs. The traffic engineer will also work with project implementation driving and prioritizing capacity augmentation projects. The engineer will either develop or use complex tools for monitoring the network and will perform complex analysis of system data as related to capacity management.

- Manages multiple projects at a time.

- Monitor utilization on RF air interface and backhaul at both a trended and daily level. Issue growth jobs proactively to address these needs.

- Monitor critical thresholds for cell, switch, backhaul, and data networks and work with associated departments to address capacity related items.

- Develop using corporate or local tools long term capacity forecast for RF and other network elements.

- Maintain RTU licenses and adjust corresponding HW levels, as needed for capacity.

- Recommend performance related changes to the network to improve capacity.

- Monitor and design special event locations from a capacity standpoint including long term plans and special event preparation. Develop and present reports for special events.

- Determine after action results and solutions for future events based on current event statistics and results.

- Develop capacity site needs for each market and work with RF Design in implementation of the sites. Also push for or develop alternative solutions as required to offload traffic within an area.

- Develop overall frequency layout plans for the region including carrier apportioning and carrier allocation.

- Create reports for management detailing capacity related issues and/or performance.

- Create tools, spreadsheet and databases for internal customer use as related to capacity.

- Collaborate with other network groups e.g. Project Management, System Performance and Operations for handling multiple projects directly impacting the capacity augmentation of the network.

- Work closely with Area Planning to determine requirements for RF budget.


-Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences.

- Two years experience in RF Design or RF Performance preferred.

-Strong technical knowledge of CDMA/EVDO and LTE technologies. Have a solid understanding of RF fundamentals and data network protocols.

-RF Design and Performance Engineering knowledge and experience.

-Experience with Prospect and XNG, NCWS, RTT, ALPT, E-Health, Handset Analyzer.

-Knowledge of traffic planning fundamentals including traffic modeling, forecasting methods, and tools.

-Working knowledge of Base Station Vendor equipment (Alcatel Lucent ).

-Knowledge of Mapping Software, such as, MapInfo and RF propagation planning tools.

-Working experience with Microsoft Excel and Power Point.

-Strong analytic and interpersonal communication skills, proven ability to manage multiple priorities, detailed oriented.
