Responsibilities

The RF Engineer contributes to the RF Design of the regional wireless network including:

  • Search area issuance, candidate assessment, and approvals.
  • Redesigning mature network areas to minimize capacity constraints and improve SINR while working with other areas of network to ensure performance fixes/initiatives are in place.
  • Partnering with System Performance to reduce Lost Calls, Ineffective Attempts, Failed connection attempts, Dropped Connections, RRC setup failures, RRC Drops, Context Setup Failures, and Context Drops
  • Using internal tools to process regulatory compliance
  • assist the regional team in the build program using Network Flow and propagation design with Geoplan
  • Performing Macro/Small Cell Design/In Building design including antenna selection and placement, utilizing knowledge of GSM, LTE, CDMA 1x, EVDO and microwave to contribute in network design are key responsibilities.
  • Optimizes the network using traditional and non-traditional means to address the Network topology and technology changes
  • Supports the investigation and resolution of customer complaints regarding service by using drive test tools, post processing and mapping tools along with OTA messaging to determine root causes
  • Works on new cell sites, making sure site is properly integrated into network and optimized for peak performance
  • Baseline activities play a key role in optimizing our Network and improving month over month our customer experience. The RF Engineer will be working on many Baseline initiatives as we grow our LTE Network. Collaborates with other Network groups, (e.g., real estate, system performance, construction, etc.). Typically manages multiple projects at a time.
