Primary Responsibility

This position is responsible for the overall program management of the Time Reporting systems utilized across Verizon Globally. Key tasks include ensuring the system of record (could vary based on business unit) reflects current, Country, State, Wage and Tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and HR guidelines as applicable to properly pay all Verizon employees each pay cycle. This position is also responsible for understanding the operational feeders and their integration with the Time and Labor reporting process, serve as the champion and subject matter expert with the customer on these processes. In addition, this position will have oversight of the logic and processing of the bi-weekly and weekly schedule processing, which includes loading the time data for processing, and over 600 different jobs. Monitors and performs analytical audits to ensure accuracy and reasonableness. Responsible for communicating issues, encountered during processing, to Payroll management and IT so they can be addressed timely to not impact the schedule and the critical SLA’s to distribute pay by required legal guidelines. Support, utilize and adhere to the controls defined with the overall processing. This position is responsible for understanding the key components of the payroll system/application functionality and data. Provides level 2 technical support related to customer inquiries, works with Payroll Operations function to resolve.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Monitors the daily production schedules and providing control points into and out of Workbrain and PeopleSoft for inbound time reporting feeder interfaces and outbound error files. Responsible for reporting any technical issues, schedule delays/variations or data issues experience that could cause an impact to defined SLA’s or pay to the responsible Payroll Consultant for remediation.
  • Responsible for applying organizational structural changes within the time reporting system of record, i.e. Workbrain or PS Time and Labor.
  • Responsible for supporting the all Call Centers which would include the following feeders: IEX, Resource Central (NAT), NewMetrics and PATS.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and support of how to configure proxies and or delegation.
  • Assist Payroll Operations in creating job aides to support functionality provided within systems
  • Develop and maintain procedures and policies for their assigned work stream or function(s).
  • Referenced as subject matter expert of time reporting processes utilized and data they support, therefore referenced in legal cases as needed to communicate these.
  • Responsible for maintaining data dictionary to be referenced and utilized by Payroll and or stakeholders.
  • Responsible for testing any new or changed functionality within their area of responsibility, includes defining test scenarios, test scripts and reviewing to ensure proper results are obtained.
  • Serve as Payroll lead for operational projects impacting time reporting.
  • Responsible for staying current on enhancements or upgrades implemented by the primary payroll or time reporting systems utilized. This includes enhancements or changes applied to the operational feeders supported.
  • Responsible for maintaining good working relationship with feeder groups, and understanding of their strategic initiatives and goals. Work with Payroll management to help drive standardization where applicable.

General Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a basic understanding of payroll processing operations and key performance indicators that drive the business.
  • Demonstrates a general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and basic understanding of organizational industry standards specific internal control concepts and principles.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of organizational systems and related interfaces, process interdependencies and functionality to streamline processes.
  • Responsible for maintaining good working relationship with stakeholder groups, and understanding of their strategic initiatives and goals. Work with Payroll management to help drive standardization where applicable.
  • Perform training and provides assistance in developing process documentation.
  • Provide support to Payroll Operations team as required
  • Ability to identify and communicate process improvements as identified in the normal performance of daily functional activities.


Skills Required

  • Professional certification or experience preferred in areas related to Pay and or Time processing, examples; PeopleSoft Global Payroll, Time Reporting Applications, Time Feeders, Vendor solutions in these disciplines.
  • Experience with any/all of the following time feeder systems: IEX, Resource Central (NAT), NewMetrics and PATS.
  • 1+ years of direct payroll data processing experience, troubleshooting, implementation (prefer Global experience including domestic and international)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge of report query and design, Cognos
  • Knowledge of Time and Labor systems and the associated data.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in HRMS/Payroll Processing/Timekeeping system applications
  • Education – Bachelor or Associate Degree or Certified Payroll Professional Certification or FPC.
  • 1+ years Customer Service experience
