Position Overview

 

 

The Associate Director leads a large multi-function organization within Finance. They are responsible for ensuring there are end to end controls in place to accurately bill customers in a timely manner.  They will direct several managers and focus on developing priorities, providing guidance, and leading initiatives on behalf of the organization, supporting Vz’s Enterprise Contract and Rate Implementation functions. They must understand the consequences of projects and process changes impacting the Enterprise initiatives such as Verizon Rapids Delivery, and provide details to the organization that allow them to understand the impacts. It is their responsibility to identify the end state audit process for various projects/strategies.

Leads the team in a manner than invokes strong teamwork, creative thinking and a desire to ensure all end to end controls across the Contract and Rate Implementation group are developed and administered effectively.

Ensures the priorities of the Company are understood by the management team and staff and that processes supported align with the Company strategies. 

Apply process improvement and technical expertise to recognize when changes need to be made across the teams, so all functions of the organization are operating consistently and as effectively as possible. A continual review of  strategies, priorities and scope is required to ensure resources are appropriately aligned based on revenue, risk, and strategic focus.  

Identify KPI’s for the organization that result in the teams needing to work together to meet the goals. The management teams support different complex systems with varying degrees of risk and change being introduced, resulting in the need for the A.D. to ensure all teams work together to achieve the goals.

 Create effective operational reporting, providing the Director timely updates on performance highlights and identifying concerns that are being addressed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establishes vision and operational goals for each team; defines strategy to meet overall business objectives; hold teams accountable for accomplishing goals.
  • Ensures all reporting and analysis of departmental performance results are accurate, clear, concise, and timely and communicated to executive management.  Provides guidance to managers on addressing identified areas of concern.
  • Drives for automated solutions and ensures they meet Verizon’s, the customer’s and organization’s requirements. 
  • Be a partner with IT by providing guidance, leadership & direction in documenting requirements, return on investment, creative design, complete testing, and flawless implementation of systems and applications.
  • Develops and leverages relationships with executives from other organizations to resolve customer impacting issues of the broader scope.  Develop creative solutions around complex contracts.  Act as key stakeholder/decision maker while weighing and assuming risks for the final decision.  Keep Director informed. 
  • Resolves escalations of a broad/complex nature.  Escalates issues to executive management when alternatives offered aren’t being accepted or when solutions are requested from others that aren’t in alignment with Vz’s goals. Identifies all requirements and alternatives offered, and provides recommendation of next steps. Upon gaining proper support, provides the direction to impacted organizations and stands by executive management’s decisions.
  • Provides a higher level of oversight to SOX compliance as well as internal/external audit activities for the department.  Responsible for sign off on compliance results.  If process changes are recommended, Associate Director works with Internal Audit to review and implement changes. 
  • Recruits and develops staff in accordance with company policies; create an environment where learning, performance, and communication flourishes.
  • Leads and encourages change & innovation to improve operational results; identifies and drives improvement opportunities and ensures they are implemented.
  • Project manages strategic/complex company initiatives that impact this area of the business.
  • Models and creates a culture of collaboration; builds strategic relationships with organizations across the company; develops a customer centric organization.
  • Responsible for the formulation and oversight of the overall management and operational strategy of the department; oversees the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Use sound judgment when working escalations & customer account/contract/billing issues; ensure resolution is handled with a sense of urgency; analyze error/issue drivers and take mitigating actions where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of professional experience and at least 7 years in a management role.
  • Thorough knowledge of contracts (products, services, promos, pricing, Ts&Cs), customer hierarchy account management, and rate implementation processes.
  • Experience working with IT on requirements, development, design, testing and implementation of systems and applications.
  • Experience managing multiple strategic projects while managing supporting operations team in parallel.
  • Experience developing and implementing solutions to unique customer situations/issues, while continuing to strive for standardization in processes and systems.
