The Priority Services (PS) Wireless Engineer is responsible for designing, participate and execute the automated test tool process. The Priority Services Wireline Test Engineer should have an advanced knowledge and diverse skills in technologies & multiple vendors to include general design and an understanding of the architecture of various platforms and need to be master in wireless technology environments of Mobile Switching Center (MSC). Understand the role of testing within the software development lifecycle and business-related project constraints, and effectively advocate for the best possible customer experience of product quality within those parameters.



  • Document the technical aspects of current and future program initiatives, issues, and proposals.
  • Participate in Next Generation Networks (NGN), standards issues, and vendor relations pertaining to Priority Service.
  • Plan, schedule, and implement program enhancements through matrix management, and frequent customer communication, both written and verbal.
  • Provide 2nd/3rd level technical assistance and/or analysis in support of agency service issues and problems.
  • Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Verizon Priority Service in wireless networks. 
  • Represents Verizon Priority Services internally and in industry forums.
  • Assist in the creation of test project status reports and metrics.
  • Designs test documents for the Priority Telecommunications Services, such as voice, data, and video services.
  • Develop and executed automated test suites using Commercial off-the-shelf, (COTS) and custom tools.
  • Ensure the test documents comply with the provisioning specifications of the Priority Telecommunications Services from the different manufacturers.
  • Integrate test suites into the test management system and custom test schedules.
  • Perform other testing-related duties as required.
  • Work with the Development team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases.
  • Update test execution status using established processes as part of regularly-scheduled test status updates.
  • Trace test cases and results back to specific quality risks.
  • Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites for various PS products; i.e., perform automated dynamic testing.
  • Review requirements, specifications, user documentation, help files, and other project documentation to assure quality of the tests to be developed.
  • Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the latest techniques in test automation. 
  • Conduct audits of installed software to ensure configuration compliance.
  • Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all implemented PS documents.
  • Identifies and analyzes problems and needs of existing Priority Telecommunications Services to determine the most appropriate means of reducing, eliminating and avoiding current and future problems
  • Interprets  the specifications, drawings and regulations for Priority Telecommunications Services
  • Research and document issues using established processes immediately upon discovery of a quality problem.
  • Support the development of Requests for Proposals (RFP) & Technical Proposal responses.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan by creating documents following prescribed formats.
  • Will conduct quality control reporting as identified in the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP) Maintenance (Basic).
  • Will maintain the QASP and conduct quality control reporting as identified in the QASP requirements documents.
  • Work with PS engineers to identify the quality implications of existing and proposed services.



  • Apply practical skills and experience across many application and infrastructure (operational) products, technologies, and services.
  • Assesses performance levels of system hardware and software to project future needs, and developing short- and long-terms plans for updating equipment, adding capabilities, enhancing existing systems and providing improved Priority Telecommunications Services
  • Compiles engineering project proposals to define goals, identify scope, background and need, and ascertain cost of equipment, parts and services
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of support and engineering design for voice, data and video networks at Access, Aggregation, and Core network locations
  • Establish, implement, and enforce appropriate standards in the creation and implementation of the solution whenever project requirements call for or would benefit from the use of standards
  • Evaluates new products and services from vendors ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures in the provision of Priority Telecommunications Services
  • Experienced with manual testing and test script development
  • Help to define Priority Services architectural roadmap and prepare for business need.
  • Identifies and analyzes problems and needs of existing Priority Telecommunications Services to determine the most appropriate means of reducing, eliminating and avoiding current and future problems
  • In depth knowledge of IP Telephony and IP Telephony signaling technologies (SIP, H.323, MGCP)
  • Lead technical engagements promoting the use of technology, and of specific technologies, in order to achieve buy-in from the customer, vendors, and corporate technology management  to create new opportunities and business relationships
  • Maintain a baseline of industry knowledge to advice on technical trends and techniques and apply them to the development of solution designs
  • Mediate opposing viewpoints and negotiate equitable solutions to ensure successful and stable outcomes.
  • Monitors Priority Telecommunications Services to assess need for updates, upgrades, enhancements, preventive maintenance and new systems
  • Create test plans and procedures from specifications.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of voice network architecture and design disciplines, operational support familiarity, previous and current extensive hands-on implementation and thorough configuration knowledge and capabilities.
  • Prepares and interprets  specifications, drawings and regulations for Priority Telecommunications Services
  • Proficient in the use of modeling techniques - such as use case, scenario modeling, prototyping, benchmarking, and performance modeling - to describe the problem space, to size the solution and to validate that the proposed architecture addresses the business requirements
  • Proficient in Word and Excel software.
  • Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Strong team working skills. Able to communicate both orally and written.
  • Strong understanding and work experience in wireless and wireline business areas.
  • Support Priority Telecommunications Services, such as voice, data, and video services in the wireless network from different manufacturers, service providers and users.
  • Understanding of the North American Number Plan.
  • Work closely with vendor and internal technical teams to deliver technical solutions to the customer




  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Computer Science or Network Engineering with five or more years of directly related experience in a telecommunications service provider network. 
  • At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification
