Responsibilities

The Precision Market Insights group at Verizon is focused on commercializing advertising, analytics and other new products and services with specialized sales, business development, and marketing roles focused on the launch of these new opportunities. This role calls for an experienced Business Development professional, with experience in the areas of publisher & developer services, digital advertising, mobile commerce and/or analytics.

This Senior Consultant will lead the evaluation and development of new partners for technology and platform solutions, drive new go-to-market channels for these new products and support the launch of other disruptive technology trials. This business development professional will primarily work with the mobile publishing ecosystem to drive adoption and scale of a new set of Internet and wireless network services. The person will support the Product, Engineering, Strategy and Marketing teams by providing analysis around product strategy and value proposition while leading the negotiations and contract execution of new partnerships. The individual in this role is an expert at building strong internal and external relationships, can establish and communicate a vision and has proven success in roles that require an “explorer” mentality to be successful.

New Business Development - 70%

  • Develop the partner ecosystem for a new set of publisher related products
  • Own the business development process with the partners, from building the roadmap, to negotiating the partner deals to managing the contract to signature.
  • Develop the market and the ecosystem that is necessary for adoption of the products
  • Work tightly with the product managers and cross functional teams to develop the partner roadmap that complements the short and long term product strategies
  • Attend industry events (conferences, networking events, etc.) to support visibility of Verizon solutions within the industry

Strategy - 30%

  • Develop and socialize new product and go-to-market strategies via clear, concise presentations, documentation and other supportive materials
  • Evaluate market size, compile competitive intelligence, conduct industry research and document and interpret market trends to support new directions
  • Build frameworks and other analysis to evaluate the opportunities and risks associated with new ventures and business models

Qualifications

Education: BS , MBA preferred

Experience:

  • 5-8 years experience in business development or related role
  • 5-8 years of experience in advertising or digital publishing industry working within the areas of data driven products & services, digital publisher services & tools, digital media, mobile advertising and mobile commerce.
  • Candidate must have proven success in negotiating complex deals with large companies/vendors, as well as building successful deals with start-ups.
  • A demonstrable interest in the digital media and advertising industries.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the publisher ecosystem, can outline media monetization models and demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges associated with monetizing digital media and the products and services available to digital publishers today
  • Ability to take complex ideas and validate through strong analysis. Expert at using Excel to create financial models, projections and forecasting.
  • Demonstrable expertise with using PowerPoint and other tools to create and deliver highly effective presentations.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, ability to multi-task and to manage time effectively.
  • A familiarity with the roles played in the mobile economy by content programmers, developers, advertisers, ad agencies, ad networks, rep firms, research providers and technology vendors
  • Desire to succeed in a high pressure, high growth organization - results-oriented and strong drive with eye towards driving value with internal and external clients and partners
  • Experience working within highly-matrixed organizations; commensurate communications and collaborative teaming skills are necessary to be successful in this role.
  • An understanding of traditional and interactive advertising pricing models (e.g., campaign metrics and analysis including, CPM, CPC, and CPA),  technologies and trends
  • Education:  BS required, MBA preferred
