Responsibilities

OEM management

  • Coordinate periodic meetings with OEM's to understand device technology and services road map, device schedule and time lines and to facilitate technical discussions
  • Participate in device feature lock downs (FLD's) to understand device positioning and the strategic need, drive technical feedback into OEM's, drive compliance in key areas
  • Collaborate closely with Device Marketing to track device submissions, software versions/release notes, noncompliance items or escalations, specifically as it relates to key applications and services
  • Monitor device Technical Acceptance and launches and proactively drive critical issues to closure before they hit customers
  • Monitor post launch issues by collaborating with supply chain team and provide feedback to SME's as needed, resulting in new requirements or test cases that will reduce device returns
  • Collaborate closely within Device Technology team and with Device Marketing to understand key OEM trends, issues, and plans
  • Generate periodic reports on device road map, services and OEM value adds, and key device metrics

 OEM value adds, core services compliance

  • Closely monitor and solicit information from OEM's on their value added services during the pre FLD and FLD discussions.
  • Evaluate if/how OEM value added services will impact Verizon business as a whole and Device Technology in particular. Accordingly collaborate with cross functional teams to understand and mitigate impact
  • Evaluate if/how Verizon can monetize from OEM value added services
  • Closely monitor OEM's compliance to Verizon core services requirements. Provide feedback to SME's as needed and follow through on action items

 Project management, leadership, Technical Analysis

  • This is a high visibility position that requires constant interaction with OEM's and internal Verizon teams. Person in this role must be able to drive and understand the big picture, effectively communicate, enforce processes, and look for a win-win outcome
  • Effectively manage complex projects and pull loose ends together by working with diverse teams within and outside Device Technology organization
  • Adept at doing technical analysis and triage before taking it to the SME's. Also, should be able to communicate issues to senior leadership teams within VZW as well as external partners/vendors

 Process development, maintenance

  • Develop and maintain a sustainable and robust process that will be eventually followed as business as usual process for maintaining internal and external relationship

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree

Experience:

  • 6+ years’ experience in design, development and troubleshooting of network equipment, mobile devices and applications
  • Hands on experience managing complex projects leading to a mobile device launch or similar products
  • Direct firsthand experience launching one or more customer facing products as technical SME is a plus
  • Experience leading cross functional teams
  • Experience and understanding of Network Protocol Layers is a plus
  • Understanding of mobile operating systems like Android, iOS or Windows phone is a plus
  • Strong understanding of product and device development life cycle
  • Understanding of various network protocols and technologies (CDMA, LTE, IPv4v6, IMS, TCP, UDP, SIP)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead and drive cross functional teams to quickly support and resolve customer facing issues
  • Team player with "can do" attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
