Responsibilities

The Internet Sales Operation's (ISO) Site Search team has growing importance on overall success of verizonwireless.com. The process of migration to Oracle/Endeca opened new areas to be managed, build out and constantly optimize to meet customer requests and ISO Sales goals at the same time. This position in ISO Site Search will adequately play a role to work with Endeca platform and content stakeholders inside Verizon. The Site Search Manager will lead implementation of methodology and framework to constantly improve results quality and relevance with Endeca Site Search; support and guide content stakeholders to shape and write content that customers desire and that helps meet sales & service goals for our website when customers find & retrieve documents from verizonwireless.com; and, anticipate search trends and drive adjustments for Endeca to maintain top-notch position for Verizon Wireless site search.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Independently set up routine for Relevancy Ranking improvement. Creating a methodology for Relevancy Assessment and Impovement. Implement into operations.
  • Work directly with Oracle / Endeca business user interface. Endeca Experience manager work on day-to-day basis to bring live search improvements to our online customers. Independently work with other Endeca operations groups like Gadgets & Gears.
  • Collaborate with content stakeholders inside Verizon, provide guidance and leadership. Be knowledgeable about Endeca and our relevancy rule set, explain to content editors from Sales & Support to external agencies (e.g. Paceco, etc.).
  • Independently work with an agency / vendors to define work items and follow-up. Business stakeholder for projects with agency to fine-tune search and improve our relevancy model and our iterative process.
  • Translate requirements into work packages for IT and create CRs, follow-up with IT group.

 

Qualifications

Expert level in knowledge of search engine technology and e-commerce usage patterns. Analytical skill to perform detailed analysis in indexing and content processing. Deep level understanding of mass data indexation and information retrieval challenges and principles. Ability to perform analysis independently and summarize concluions to other stakeholders. Ability to lead IT engineers and search consultants. Ability to present search insights to ISO leadership and draw business conclusions. Expert knowledge of content collection works on internet protocols - externally and internally. Expert knowledge around search usability, ability to represent search positions towards Design groups and/or external agencies. Ability to prioritize according to business situation and overall search traffic to implement best options among a multitute of possibilities and requests received from partners. Excellent communication internally and externally of business decisions, search analytics and business parameters around site search. Negotiation skills to independently work with vendors, developing fruitful relationships. Customer centric mindset, based on e-commerce. Expert level skill for tools used: Endeca Experience Manager, Adobe Site Catalyst, command line tools Internet Protocol, issue tracker tools like JIRA, Bugzilla or Quality Center. Experience in managing Taxonomies.
