The Wireline Strategy and Planning supporting the SVP of Business Transformation will have a front-row seat to the strategy of the Wireline businesses. This role will work with executive leadership, staff, and key stakeholders on behalf of the SVP and will provide executive-level support, planning and directing of projects and operations to ensure the strategic business plans are successfully executed for Wireline.  The position will serve to develop the short to medium term strategy of the wireline business unit including supporting implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of strategic framework and facilitate development of key components including vision, key milestones, competitive analyses and identification of business model alternatives leading to a sustainable competitive advantage
  • Collaborate with business line management across regional and functional areas
  • Specific projects will vary greatly in sponsor, business or strategic focus, depth, and stakeholder served, ranging from broad coordination efforts across multiple regions or functional areas to focused special assignments for senior management that is of particular high strategic importance to Verizon.
  • Identify, prioritize, structure, and lead multiple projects or major project workstreams related to Verizon’s corporate strategies, priorities, and special initiatives
  • Manage project teams to structure and solve corporate business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues
  • Maintain business landscape knowledge, to provide solid foundational context for critical strategic projects
  • Communicate and generate support for recommendations among business leaders across the organization
  • Prioritize project activities and coordinate resources to achieve project goals
  • Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or regional management while supporting syndication with stakeholders across the organization
  • To the extent possible, develop external benchmarks to help ensure that goals resulting from internal benchmarks are appropriate

Facilitate/lead the development of meaningful internal operational benchmarks that can be owned by operational leaders and be used to drive out costs by establishing and pursuing best-in-class performance across the organization

Education and Experience Required

  • 10+ years total experience - MBA highly desired, or advanced university degree
  • Preferred 3 years in a Tier 1 management consulting firm  with experience working with telecom and technology clients
  • Experience in a leadership role responsible for the design, development and implementation of a strategic plan for an organization, company or business unit
  • Broad business knowledge in telecom and technology space - · Multi-functional experience a plus – finance, sales, operations, marketing, planning and strategy s
  • Significant experience with developing, implementing and tracking metrics, data analysis and reporting at the organizational level
  • Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways.
  • Comfort in working up and across the organization – working with senior staff members in the GBU, Region staff, and/or in other organizations
  • Experience creating and presenting presentations to all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and influence co-workers while fostering strong working relationships
  • Experiences handling extremely confidential information appropriately
