Responsibilities

  • Providing global transition and implementation support for managed customers' security complexes.
  • Network security design adherence on customer-requested projects.
  • Collaborates with Network Engineering and Project Management to implement custom solutions and flags any proposed solution that deviates significantly from existing Design Standards.
  • Provides research and analysis for planning, organizing, and managing project related network security functions.
  • Required to assist with presentations via training sessions, web pages, or 1-to-1 training to the floor engineers on processes, and procedures that are being implemented.
  • Document designs which describe and are used to manage incidents/changes in the customer's security environments.
  • Researches developments in their assigned technology disciplines, determines business requirements, proposes changes, and develops migration and logical implementation plans as needed.
  • Understand and effectively articulates the implications and impacts that proposed changes will have on the business (to technical and nontechnical audiences).
  • Represent Verizon's managed security services in technical discussions with customers and their third party vendors.
  • Troubleshoot and lead technical collaboration efforts on new installs and new partner connections.
  • Develop lab scenarios to mock user environments and test components of proposed solutions.
  • Support large scale firewall migrations and baseline reviews; inclusive of rule implementation and associated application validation support.
  • Support changes in strict accordance with customer's change management policies.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • AS/BS in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of network security implementation, troubleshooting, and complex change support experience.
  • Required experience in load balancing design and/or implementation with specific expertise in:
    • Global Traffic Management (GTM)
    • Local Traffic Management (LTM)
    • F5 is ideal. Cisco ACE, and/or Symantec Netscaler are desired
  • Experience implementing and supporting Enterprise environments utilizing one or more of the following technologies:
    • Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/FWSM, Juniper Netscreen/SRX)
    • SSL RAS (Netscreen SA, Array SPX, Aventail)
    • Enterprise Management tools (NSM, and/or F5 Ent Manager)
  • Strong understanding of industry trends in all areas of Information Security.
  • Experience working in 24 x 7 centers with complex, high transaction, high availability environments
  • In depth understanding of networking technologies, e.g. Cisco routers and switches.
  • Extensive and hands on experience with both physical and network/host level security.
  • Strong multidiscipline, operations and/or implementations background supporting business critical environments
  • System knowledge including ESP, ETMS, SMARTS and Concord a plus
  • Knowledge of external services environments including:
    • SSL certificate exchange
    • Remote access solutions
    • Business to Business interconnects.
