Responsibilities

The overall work effort requires expertise in a number of disciplines which may include but are not limited to Network Engineering, Routing, Switching, Checkpoint Firewall, general data communications and Security principles & practices. The individual is expected to function independently at high technical levels in support of the above described disciplines. And will be responsible for addressing project specific needs in the described areas of network security and communications.

 Provide 24x7 technical support for several distributed and highly secure network topologies across a geographic region.

 These are Data Center/DMZ environments providing high availability, critical communications services for Utility SCADA applications.

 Diagnose and correct Distributed Network Security Firewall, Routing, Switching and other complex technical issues.

Independently support Cisco router and switch administration, configuration, and troubleshooting utilizing advance knowledge in the application and administration of DMZ environments, principles, and practices.

 Assume repeating role in leading the architectural design development and implementation of secured networks, network enhancements and additions.

 Provide daily Operations support for hardware failure, & network and application performance issues or concerns.

Demonstrate strong written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision-makers.

The Candidate will be required to work in a team setting and provide leadership and make recommendations related to installation methodology, device configuration, site training and documentation

 

 

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of Network Engineer/Security experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Candidates must have strong and direct experience with Checkpoint firewall systems design and administration
  • Candidates must have strong experience with Cisco oriented network design, implementation and management.
  • Strong working knowledge with Routers, Switches, Checkpoint Firewalls Systems and Virtual Private Network devices and the security/vulnerabilities of these devices.
  • CCSA/CCSE and/or CCNP preferred
  • The Candidate will be required to work in a team setting and provide leadership and make recommendations related to installation methodology, device configuration, site training and documentation
  • Ability to work with limited to no supervision
  • Position requires the ability to support travel on a limited basis
  • Candidate must be detail oriented with excellent planning and communication skills
  • Candidate must function independently with regard to all aspects of environment interaction to include: design, implementation and troubleshooting activities in support of network and security systems.

Additional Requirements:

  • Personal vehicle and valid license is required for regional travel in support of infrastructure.
  • Off hours support for scheduled Project, or Break/Fix activities
  • On call rotation for 24x7 support.
