Responsible for performing Tier 1 surveillance, break/fix maintenance support, and outage notification on the Verizon Global VoIP Switch Network and Internal Data Network.

This position involves shift work in a 24 X 7 group environment. Candidate must be flexible on work schedule including willing to work weekends, shift work, and holidays as required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-proactive network monitoring of switch and data network elements via Verizon Network Management systems
-following established procedures and policies when responding to network alarms and events
-performing initial trouble triage to include fault isolation and providing and/or engaging next Tier technical support as required
-trouble ticket management, flash notification management, escalation management
-successfully communicating technical information and status to customer service centers, technical support organizations and Verizon management teams
-ability to clearly communicate status of work activities both verbally and written

The candidate must demonstrate strong knowledge of telecommunications equipment and technologies, such as Telephony Switching, Data Communications, Network Routers, etc. Must be able to follow documented processes and procedures.




 *Required Skills & Experience


-B.S. or B.A. Degree preferred and/or a minimum of 3-5 years of job-related experience is necessary
-Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and problem solving skills are required.
-Ability to generate, drive, and update problem-tracking tickets via multiple ticketing systems.
-Work with internal and external organizations as necessary coordinating, troubleshooting, and driving remediation of network events.
-Ability to provide timely and accurate network information to management and other groups during network events and major outages.



Desired Skills & Experience


- Self-motivated to learn about new technologies that include VoIP switching elements such as Gateways and Signaling Proxies, and Data Network elements such as Routers and Data Switches.
- Proven history of successful job performance in current and previous positions.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are required along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Fundamental knowledge of operations procedures and proven ability to perform in a fast paced environment while adhering to established guidelines.
