The Cell Technician is responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring the optimal performance of network elements including macro cells, small cells, in building systems, and special event deployments of mobile assets. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of any and all cell site equipment.
  • System Growth-responsible for integration of new base stations into the network as well as cell level capacity growth (LTE, EVDO, Voice, VoLTE), includes channels elements and backhaul growth
  • Overseeing building, HVAC, generator, battery plant and grounds upkeep.
  • Integration, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of network hardware and interconnect facilities including Ethernet, fiber, T1, Microwave, etc.
  • Install cell site router configurations and test Ethernet circuits.
  • Installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of In-Building repeater and DAS systems.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Maintaining cell site and test equipment inventories.
  • Testing and analyzing network coverage to ensure contiguous communication to support network integrity and quality.
  • Troubleshooting-maintain the integrity of their assigned base stations and all equipment to include preventative and corrective maintenance and alarm verification using various software platforms such as RTT, SAM, and Remedy trouble ticket system
  • Updating daily logs with site-specific information and all work related activities.
  • Composing clear and concise reports for system documentation
  • Performing audits as required by local, regional, area, corporate and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for keeping up with new technology integrations and equipment releases such as VoLTE, small cells, MCOs, MROs, RRHs, TRDUs, etc.
  • Able to work On-Call, Nights, and Weekends as required

The Cell Technician must be able to complete their duties in a responsible manner, with integrity, and with little direct supervision. Cell Technicians must be able to work independently, but also as part of a team.


Minimum 5 years’ experience plus electronics training in one or more of the following fields: wireless telecommunications, two-way radio, paging, or microwave radio is required.

Bachelor degree preferred. Other technical degree or equivalent work experience may be considered.

Ability to successfully pass criminal background investigations to obtain site access credentials.

Demonstrated knowledge of voice and data cell site infrastructure experience including: Alcatel Lucent CDMA, EVDO and LTE equipment.

Functional knowledge of IP networking and troubleshooting.

Functional knowledge and understanding of routers and switches.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook is required.

Computer literacy including: PC hardware, configurations, and troubleshooting.

Intermediate training in at least 3 of the following areas: Fiber Optics, Data Communications, Digital Communications, Operating Systems and Applications, Telecommunications, Computer Support, Project Management, and Power Plant Solutions.

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. is required.

Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing as the use of a company vehicle is required.
