Position is part of the Government Network Operations and Security Center (GNOSC). It involves customer service to U.S. Government civilian and Department of Defense customers. The primary role is to work as tier II technical escalation point for issues related to Aruba Wireless platform (controller, management console, WAP/WIDS), Cisco/Juniper routers, switches and/or appliances part of the solution. Daily activities can be grouped as network change requests, network incidents (ex. outages/service degradation) and configuration management. The position will interface with customers and internal Verizon organizations. The engineer supporting the NOC will be measured on his/her ability to perform according to processes and procedures responding to service requests, performing problem analysis and executing change management. The position is full time 8/hours per day and will join on-call rotation as needed.
Must have or be able to obtain an active DoD SECRET clearance. A minimum of 3 to 5 year experience dealing with customers and operating under service level agreements. Hands-on experience in a NOC environment is mandatory. This includes hands-on with Aruba platform, Juniper, Cisco routers, LAN switches, network management and performance analysis tools. Proficiency in networking protocols such as IPVPN, IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP and IPSec. Solid understanding of IPv4 and some level of hands-on exposure to IPv6. Good technical writing and interpersonal skills.
