FAQ's
There are many things that can affect your Speed Test results. Here are some things you can try to improve your speed:
  • Distance to the Router
    • When testing Wi-Fi, too much distance between your device and the router can cause slower speed

    • You should move your device within 10 feet from the router when running a speed test

  • Multiple Devices
    • Multiple Wi-Fi devices connected to the internet via your router can cause slower speeds
    • You should limit the number of devices connected to your router when running a speed test

  • Streaming
    • Streaming music or videos requires a lot of bandwidth which causes slower speeds
    • You should cease streaming via Wi-Fi when running a speed test

  • Connected via VPN
    • Connected via a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can cause slower speeds
    • You should disconnect from your VPN prior to running a speed test

  • Rebooting the Router
    • When you reboot your router, it will connect to the Verizon network via the channel with the least amount of traffic.
    • To reboot your router, press the “reset” button on the back of your Verizon router. Alternatively, you can simply unplug the power cord on your router from the electrical outlet and plug it back in after 10 seconds. Once the power, internet, and Wi-Fi LED lights are illuminated, re-run the speed test.
