Before you order Fios Internet, learn more about Fios Internet fiber-optic technology, system requirements and the FIOS Internet equipment. After you order, review the Get Ready Checklist to ensure a fast and trouble-free installation. Your Self-Installation Kit provides all the equipment required for your Fios service. Your kit should arrive a few days before your service-ready date.
After your equipment has been successfully installed, open your internet browser and you should be automatically directed to the following web address: activate.verizon.net. If you are not, please type this web address into your browser so that you can activate your service.
Note: Be sure to have your order number and zip code or if you have already set up a Verizon account, you can also activate your account using your User ID and password.
You can use the Fios Speed Optimizer tool to maximize your web experience. The Speed Optimizer tool can help you determine if settings (TCP/IP and MTU) on your computer are tuned for optimal performance.
Note: The Speed Optimizer tool is for Windows only applications. If you use wired and wireless devices, you must run the optimizer using both modes and power off the PC after running it in each mode for the changes to take effect.
Installation can take up to 4-6 hours. The technician may not arrive within the first hour due to pre-work. Please have your devices plugged in and accessible. Our technicians need a clear path to work. Someone 18 or older must be present. They’ll need to accept the Verizon Terms of Service.
In case your ONT Power Supply is accidentally unplugged--or in the event of a commercial power failure--the ONT is equipped with a battery backup unit that will supply back-up power for standard voice service, including E-911, for up to eight hours if an active battery is installed in the Battery Backup Unit. You are responsible for periodically replacing the battery. See more information about your ONT Battery.
During the account set up portion of your service installation, you set up your primary Verizon Online Email account. Next, you are ready to set up sub-accounts, Outlook Express, and wireless phones to use Verizon Online email. Learn more about Verizon Online Email set up options.
