Ric Manning from the Courier-Journal experiments with Siri on the new iPhone 4S and details his experience in this article.
Me: “Hello, Siri. I’m Ric.”
Siri and I were off to a good start. Was it the beginning of a beautiful relationship, or more like other missed connections between humans and machines, such as Keir Dullea and HAL, Sigourney Weaver and Mother, Fry and Bender, or everyone and Microsoft’s Bob?
Me: “Siri, I’m hungry.”
Siri: “I found a number of restaurants fairly close to you.”
And so she had. The list included many of my lunchtime favorites, though Siri didn’t know that Cafe Kilimanjaro had closed years ago.
But I’ll cut Siri some slack because she’s new. She just arrived on the scene last week when Apple released the iPhone 4S.
The new phone has a faster processor, more memory, better battery life and an improved camera. All solid improvements and probably worth the $199 that AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint charge for the 16-GB version.
