LDDS WorldCom and Cable & Wireless Bermuda sign agreement for international telephone service

NEW YORK, NY (October 17, 1995)-- LDDS WorldCom announced today that the company's international division, WorldCom International, signed an operating agreement with Cable & Wireless of Bermuda to provide bi-directional telephone services. 

WorldCom's agreement with Cable & Wireless enables WorldCom to provide international public and switched services to and from Bermuda. The agreement was signed by WorldCom International Executive Vice President Michael Sauer and Cable & Wireless Bermuda General Manager Jeni Graham. "WorldCom is very excited to conclude this agreement with Cable & Wireless, which allows the growing customer bases of both companies to enjoy enhanced, cost-effective communications services," said Sauer. Susan Caldara, WorldCom International director, said, "The initiation of direct voice services with Cable & Wireless comes as a welcome addition to the existing portfolio of products our companies already offer on a joint basis." Graham said, "Cable & Wireless is very pleased to have concluded this agreement with LDDS WorldCom, which augments the agreements we have with other major U.S. telecommunications carriers. 

This agreement will provide us with increased routing options and will reinforce the security of our existing international telecommunications services for Bermuda's business and residential customers." WorldCom, one of the four largest long-distance telecommunications companies in the United States, offers international and domestic voice, data and video products and services to business customers, other carriers and the residential market. WorldCom operates a diverse network of fiber-optic submarine cable and transmission services. WorldCom provides numerous routing options to virtually every region in the world and has operating agreements with more than 100 countries. 

The common shares of WorldCom trade on The Nasdaq Stock Market under the symbol WCOM.
