If anyone can best understand the challenges of balancing life, work, and family, it’s a military spouse. V Teamer and military spouse Alecia McQuay is no exception.

As the #1 Military Friendly Company for three consecutive years and top 10 Military Spouse Friendly Employer, Verizon is proud to have V Teamers like Alecia whose commitment to her family, the military community, and fellow employees make us a stronger and better team.

Navigating change.

Life comes at you fast, and Alecia is no stranger to life’s curveballs. Newly married with a new job and a baby on the way, she navigated all of these changes all while her husband was deployed with the U.S. Navy.

Now part of the Verizon family for 20 years, Alecia started as a call center agent in September 2000. From there, she moved on to a sales subject matter expert (SME) role, a service SME role, Team Manager and finally to her current position as a Project Manager/Vendor Relationship Professional in Verizon Business Group.

Navy strong.

Holding down a job and a family as a military spouse is no easy task. With two little ones at home while her husband served multiple deployments during his tenure in the Navy, Alecia knows the challenge of balancing work and family.

Alecia recalls the sense of family present within the military community. For her, it was important that she feel this same support from the Verizon community as well.

Verizon has understood and supported me through six 6-month or longer deployments and countless work detachments. I was supported by my peers, management and employees. Verizon has had my back.

V Teamer Alecia M.

All in the family.

With her husband now retired from the military and working as an engineer at Verizon, Alecia and her family are “all-in” on their career journey with the V Team.

“Go big or go home” is a motto Alecia lives by, both in her personal and professional life. In addition to her full-time role, she has taken on multiple responsibilities at Verizon, including advocating for and supporting other military spouses and service members.

She is the Chief of Operations for Verizon’s VALOR Employee Resource Group (ERG), an active member of the Verizon Green team, a member of our WAVE (Women’s Association of Verizon Employees) ERG, a Channel Cultural Engagement Champion, the VBG Champion for Corporate Social Responsibility, and received a Coin of Excellence from VP Chris Lewter. She also spends her time volunteering as a Crisis Text Line Counselor. Alecia truly exemplifies the drive and compassion it takes to give back to others.

Moving the world forward together.

Since joining the team, Verizon has provided Alecia with military spouse benefits such as the resources and support her family needed to thrive. Today, Alecia works hard to make sure others like her are also set for success.

“As a military spouse, Verizon has afforded me the opportunity to work with the most understanding and encouraging managers ever. They have known my work ethic and have supported me whenever I needed it in regards to any military spouse duties I had or even situations that needed my immediate attention while my husband was deployed,” she said.

We would like to say thank you to all of our military spouses and veterans for their tremendous sacrifices.
