MCI And Resolver Combine To Support Canadian Regulatory Requirements
MCI Canada's Dedicated Hosting Services Selected To Support Resolver's Compliance Software Solution
TORONTO, June 12, 2006 - MCI Canada, a leading communications provider, today announced that Resolver Inc. has selected MCI Canada's dedicated hosting services to support its browser-based software solutions, which are designed to enable companies of all sizes to comply with stringent new Canadian regulations on risk management and reporting procedures.
The Resolver software runs through a browser on a client's screen, supported by MCI Canada's dedicated hosting services, which are part of the Verizon Business global IP network. As part of the hosting solution, MCI Canada provides the hardware, firewall, web server and database server as well as network management and security functions.
"Our customers can feel confident that no matter where in the world they operate, their compliance software will work at optimum speed over one of the largest local-to-global IP networks in the world," said Resolver Canada President Steve Taylor.
According to Mr. Taylor, later this year a new Canadian law, similar to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the U.S. will come into force to help protect shareholders and the public by requiring Canadian publicly-traded companies to identify areas of risk within their organizations, monitor these risks electronically and report regularly on their compliance. Compliance with these laws can place enormous demands on a public company's software and hardware environment. According to Taylor, rather than acquiring their own licenses, many companies are turning to outsourced solution providers like Resolver.
Resolver has selected MCI Canada to deliver dedicated hosting services, relevant technologies and network support for its solution. "The security, strength and speed of the Verizon global IP network backbone have definitely been a factor in our success," Taylor said. "With MCI Canada managing the network and the security, we have been able to free up resources to focus on the software applications for our customers."
With thousands of Canadian companies obligated to adopt compliance measures when the law comes into effect, "future opportunities are enormous," Taylor added.
"As the predominant Canadian provider of dedicated hosting services with a global backbone and a global footprint, MCI Canada is ready for the challenge," noted MCI Canada's Director of network Operations, Karl Parris, Jr.
