MCI WorldCom Advanced Networks Launches New Dial-on-Demand Service

Corporations Can Now Save Money and Time by Connecting Remote
Offices Through Single Dial-up Connection

COLUMBUS, OHIO, FEBRUARY 17, 1999

- MCI WorldCom Advanced Networks, a division of MCI WorldCom, today
announced Remote Office, a new dial-on-demand service that enables
corporations to connect remote offices; branch locations; and outlying
sales offices through a single local dial-up connection. Remote Office
will enable corporations to save money and time through reduced
telecommunication costs and streamlined network management.

Extending the Wide Area Network (WAN) into the Local Area Network
(LAN), the new fully managed, end-to-end service securely links
multiple simultaneous users at a remote location to the corporate
intranet through one connection, eliminating the need for several
dial-up connections at each location. Leveraging Cisco Systems'
technology, Remote Office connects to the remote LAN via a router,
providing seamless service to end-users who do not need to dial up
every time they access the corporate intranet. The new service supports
speeds up to 56 Kbps and 128 Kbps for Integrated Services Digital
Network (ISDN) and is available in 100 countries around the globe.

Ideal for retail establishments, insurance companies and the
automobile industry, the service can eliminate the need for dedicated
connections to remote offices with two to five simultaneous users while
maintaining high network performance and reliability.

"Remote Office is a unique offering in today's
marketplace," stated Dennis Brouwer, vice president, product
marketing, MCI WorldCom Advanced Networks. "Our ability to
implement wide-scale deployments around the globe is definitely a
first. We continue to be committed to providing our Global 2000
customers with solutions that streamline network management and reduce
costs."

Remote Office is targeted to remote access and virtual private
network (VPN) customers and supports both Internet Protocol (IP) and
Novell IPX. Remote Office is fully configured and installed worldwide
by MCI WorldCom Advanced Networks.
