Consol Energy Center Visitors to Enjoy Advanced Services Delivered Over Verizon's Top-Quality Networks

When the new Consol Energy Center opens on Wednesday (Aug. 18), visitors will discover an array of advanced communication services and capabilities powered by Verizon's networks that will transform sports and entertainment events at the center into high-tech, multi-media experiences.

As a founding sponsor at the center, the new home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Verizon played a significant role in bringing advanced communications and technology solutions to the facility.  The power of Verizon's all-fiber-optic and wireless networks will enable concert goers and hockey fans to change the way they communicate and interact with others inside and outside the arena.

Verizon workers spent months at the new arena installing communications infrastructure, which serves as the backbone for many of the venue's technological amenities.  The more than 800 high-definition (HD) monitors are powered by Verizon's all-fiber network, providing crisp and clear HD images and ensuring that hockey fans won't miss a minute of the action. 

Verizon Wireless plans to deploy a dedicated cell site at the center, and Verizon Wireless customers will continue to benefit from the nation's most reliable network to gather and share information during events. 

In addition, fans entering through the Verizon Gate at the center's northeast entry can visit the Verizon Studio and engage in interactive demonstrations of Verizon's FiOS Internet and TV services, watch live game broadcasts, interact with the latest wireless products and learn how to download the Yinz Cam application powered by Verizon as well as the NHL Mobile app.  Fans can rule the air both in and outside of the arena and access all the information they need from their wireless device.

Hockey fans also will have an opportunity to join in social media activity with the new Penguins Pulse feature. The Penguins Pulse is a unique fan-generated experience that lets Penguins fans post messages during games from their wireless devices or from Verizon FiOS Internet or TV stations at the Verizon Studio.  The Pulse will serve as the fans' social media community at the center, and fan-generated texts and tweets will continually be displayed on the giant TV wall above the Verizon Studio.
